Own the technical roadmap and delivery of scalable backend systems for global KYC and customer onboarding. The role requires strong expertise in global financial crime regulations, CDD/EDD, KYC, KYB, risk management, and control effectiveness.

Lead regional Banking Operations across Europe, including strategy, team development, banking partner performance, escalations, risk, costs, and operational improvements. Own roadmaps, KPIs, dashboards, governance, partner accountability, and cross-functional delivery with Banking, Product, Engineering, and Payops teams. Use data, technology, automation, and AI to reduce payment failures, delays, incidents, control gaps, and partner costs while ensuring regulatory compliance and scalable operating practices.

Lead and mentor backend-focused software engineers while owning the technical strategy, architecture, and delivery of Wise’s referral and recommendation platform. Partner with Product, Marketing, Design, Analytics, and other engineering teams to build scalable, resilient, customer-facing systems and flexible incentive campaigns. Support hiring, team development, roadmap planning, technical quality, on-call operations, and continuous improvement.

Lead second-line risk management for Wise Assets, embedding enterprise risk frameworks across products, operations, and governance. Provide independent challenge, oversee risk assessments and controls, manage remediation issues, monitor risk indicators and incidents, and deliver reporting to senior stakeholders and governance committees. Partner cross-functionally across Product, Compliance, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Audit, and regional risk teams to support responsible growth across jurisdictions.

Lead Wise’s Risk Modelling ML Engineering pillar for financial crime detection. Architect model factories, experimentation pipelines, deployment infrastructure, automated retraining, drift detection, threshold management, monitoring, and audit trails. Recruit and develop a senior ML engineering team while setting technical standards, architecture, and engineering culture. Partner across platform teams and guide systems spanning deep learning, production infrastructure, high-throughput inference, and model lifecycle automation.

Lead and grow an engineering team building Wise’s competitor pricing data platform and public Comparison API. Own scalable, resilient scraping infrastructure, data pipelines, validation, accuracy, observability, and customer-facing comparison experiences. Partner with Product, Marketing, Pricing, Compliance, SEO, and Analytics to shape strategy and deliver measurable customer value. Guide the safe use of LLMs for data extraction, quality control, and self-healing scrapers while participating in on-call support.

Build and scale the backend platform powering Wise’s recipient and contacts experience. Responsibilities include defining technical vision, developing large-scale distributed systems, designing RESTful APIs and database schemas, optimizing queries, maintaining reliable services, and collaborating with product, design, and analytics partners.
