Supports the UK MLRO Office in overseeing AML/CTF and broader financial crime controls for regulated UK entities. Responsibilities include managing financial crime risks, reviewing SAR and PEP samples, monitoring regulatory changes, preparing management information and regulatory reports, advising stakeholders, and improving fraud controls related to authorised push payment and reimbursement fraud.

Build scalable backend systems and customer-facing financial products for Wise’s Account Sharing team. Design reliable asynchronous microservices supporting international joint accounts, kid accounts, shared spending, and money movement. Collaborate with product, design, research, and analytics teams to shape solutions in a greenfield environment. Contribute to architecture, product direction, infrastructure reliability, compliance-related systems, and globally scalable consumer finance experiences.

Leads cross-domain implementation and expansion of Wise Assistant, coordinating project timelines, technical dependencies, regulatory and privacy approvals, security reviews, vendors, procurement, and commercial negotiations. Builds implementation roadmaps, directs proof-of-concept work, gathers operational requirements, and establishes scalable processes for deploying customer-facing AI across regulated financial services domains.

Conduct exploratory data analysis to improve financial crime controls and transaction monitoring rules. Tune thresholds to balance detection accuracy with operational workload, support partner risk monitoring, and maintain financial crime key risk indicators and reporting. Perform deep dives into emerging risks, identify compliance gaps, and recommend measures to mitigate suspicious activity across Wise Platform. Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Fincrime, KYC, and Business Operations teams.

Lead the architecture and production delivery of deep learning systems for real-time financial crime detection. Design scalable training and serving pipelines, evaluate graph, sequence, attention, embedding, and foundation-model approaches, optimize latency and throughput, partner with data scientists on evaluation and causal measurement, and mentor engineers while shaping Wise’s ML strategy.

Design, build, test, and maintain Java and Kotlin backend services, REST APIs, payment orchestration systems, and event-driven financial platforms. Optimize PostgreSQL databases and payment services for scale, reliability, and cost. Participate in code reviews, automated testing, incident response, cross-functional delivery, and security practices for sensitive financial data.

Manage external financial reporting, disclosure governance, AI governance, month-end reporting improvements, and Workiva automation. Lead audit-readiness initiatives, prepare accounting and audit position papers, coordinate walkthroughs, support audit champions, track audit matters, and optimize audit processes. The role requires cross-functional project leadership, strong documentation, reporting expertise, ACA qualification, and an audit background, ideally within a US-listed company.

Designs and owns Wise’s global product risk and compliance program for credit cards. Translates regulatory and card-scheme requirements for Product and Engineering teams, establishes controls and risk metrics, coordinates remediation, and reports program health to internal and external stakeholders. Leads regulatory, financial crime, and risk discussions while driving customer-focused improvements and supporting global regulatory initiatives.

Build and deploy Java Spring Boot backend microservices and React/TypeScript frontends for Wise’s centralized financial-crime risk platform. Develop customer risk views, reusable risk-mitigation workflows, and scalable compliance tools. Design distributed and concurrent systems, write clean and testable code, collaborate with product, analytics, and design teams, and own solutions from problem discovery through production delivery.

Derive data-driven insights to improve customer onboarding, account access, and recovery. Partner with product managers, engineers, and designers to guide product decisions, define KPIs, build dashboards and automated data pipelines, and identify high-impact opportunities. The role also involves reducing user friction while deflecting bad actors and collaborating on AI-driven analytics and automation.
