Description

Rakuten Viber is one of the most popular and downloaded apps in the world. Working with us provides a unique opportunity to influence hundreds of millions of our users and to be part of the journey that makes us a super-app. Our mission is to make people's lives easier by enabling meaningful connections, from precious moments with family and friends, through managing business relationships to pursuing their passions.

Viber Pay is Viber's embedded payments product - enabling users to send money, make payments, and transact directly within the app, without switching to a separate financial service. The opportunity is to build a payments business on top of one of the world's largest messaging platforms: hundreds of millions of users, already engaged, across markets where digital payments are growing fast.

We're looking for a General Manager who is also a builder and people leader: someone who has created real consumer payment habits before, earns trust across a large organization, and brings startup energy to a global platform.

You'll own the full P&L and lead a cross-functional team spanning product, R&D, marketing, data, and business development.

Success in the role

  • Grow Viber Pay monthly active users and TPV significantly against goals
  • A high-performing product team is in place and scaling
  • Regulatory and market entry milestones are met
  • Viber Pay is established as a recognized growth driver within the Viber portfolio
  • The function operates with clear accountability and strong cross-functional execution
Responsibilities

Business Leadership

  • Own the Viber Pay P&L - revenue, cost, and key business metrics
  • Set strategy for user growth, product direction and market expansion
  • Lead the Viber Pay organization while setting the standard for performance, accountability and culture
  • Report directly to Viber’s CEO

Product & Growth

  • Lead product and marketing to build features that drive genuine payment adoption across Viber's user base
  • Direct acquisition and activation strategies that convert platform reach into active financial behavior
  • Own new market entry, including regulatory and operational readiness

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Lead shared-function partnerships - Design, DevOps, architecture, legal, and finance - to drive outcomes across the business
  • Serve as a full member of the Viber executive team

Regulatory & Expansion

  • Own relationships with external regulatory and compliance partners
  • Direct market expansion alongside legal and compliance
Requirements
  • +10 Year of experience leading a neo-bank, B2C consumer banking app, or a standalone fintech product at a leadership level
  • Full P&L ownership - accountable for business outcomes, not just delivery
  • Cross-functional leadership across product, engineering, and marketing
  • A track record of building high-performing, engaged teams
  • Consumer growth instinct - you've created payment habits in a B2C financial product
  • Data-driven by default - you define the metrics that matter, read funnel and retention performance, and use data to prioritize and decide
  • Based in London
Advantages
  • Experience in a regulated payments environment (PI, EMI, PSP)
  • Multi-market or international expansion experience
  • Experience leading a business unit within a larger technology organization
  • Familiarity with messaging platforms or super-app ecosystems
