VP, Global Partnerships, Solutioning & Futureproofing

Overview
The Global Partnerships team is responsible for cultivating and managing Mastercard’s strategic partnerships with key players across the payments ecosystem. The team works with global players in tech, e-commerce, and financial services to create innovative, differentiated products and solutions that shape the future of commerce. Through a consultative approach, and inspired by Mastercard’s longstanding focus on inclusive growth, we are passionate about working hand in hand with mission-aligned companies to solve real-world problems for people and businesses around the world.
The Global Partnerships Strategy & Business Excellence team leads key strategic initiatives for Global Partnerships, provides analytics and insights to drive business results, creates balanced deal constructs that drive the best value for MA, delivers strategic initiatives, solutions for operational pain points, monitors business risks, assists with the articulation of the strategy and progress against it.

Role
The VP for Solutioning & Futureproofing is a member of the Global Partnerships team and reports to the Senior Vice President of the GP Strategy & Business Excellence team. He / she will lead a team of seasoned solutioning and strategy experts. This team is an agile team (run like an in-house consulting team) executing projects across Global Partnerships. The team lead will maintain a log of project requests coming in from across the Global Partnerships verticals and beyond (the project pipeline), agree prioritization of the projects (clearly articulating selection criteria) and ‘staff’ against selected projects.
The role requires a strong customer focus, often working directly with our customers, in coordination with the account teams across Americas and APEMEA, for accounts that are cross-regional in nature. He / she will understand the local, regional and global nuances of the partnerships (both strategic and financial) and the strategy for moving that forward in the best interest of Mastercard. The individual will make recommendations based on advancing our priorities and driving net revenue, while protecting against strategic risks. Engaging with stakeholders across business units and functions, using strong influencing skills, the individual will seek buy-in from stakeholders across all regions in order to execute enterprise wide initiatives.
Solutioning and Futureproofing project examples include:
• Building holistic narratives outlining relevant MA tools to support specific product acceleration efforts (e.g., how to drive e-commerce spend)
• Enabling cross-regional feedback loop to Product on customer feedback, pain points, competitive intelligence
• Developing new initiatives or programs that focus on new industry verticals / increasing vertical penetration and/or enhancing Mastercard’s value proposition to customers thereby driving new revenue opportunities
• Executing cross-functional initiatives that improve Mastercard’s operating model and/or industry standards to address GP team pain points or GP customer pain points
• Facilitating customer workshops focused on innovations, latest trends, and guidance for customers

• Strong people management skills, including experience managing team members spread across geographies
• You enjoy engaging with internal and external stakeholders in matrixed organizations to get things done – if there’s a hurdle, you know what levers to pull to work around it
• Strong analytical skills with ability to distill key insights from data
• Sound business judgment and creative, strategic thinker
• Naturally curious and a quick study
• Skilled communicator - can translate complex inputs into clear, compelling outputs
• Experience translating strategies into practical execution plans
• Project management experience with ability to lead cross-enterprise projects
• Integrity and discretion - quickly builds trust with peers
• Global citizen with understanding of many cultures
• Broad knowledge of the payments industry required, including understanding of latest trends across our product suite
• Corporate strategy / management consulting experience preferred, but not mandatory
