About BAIS
BlackRock Active Investment Stewardship (BAIS) is a specialist team within the Portfolio Management Group and manages BlackRock’s stewardship engagement and voting on behalf of clients invested in liquid active strategies globally. BAIS is also responsible for engagement with issuers in index fixed income strategies, where appropriate. BAIS works in partnership with BlackRock’s investment teams, excluding index equity, providing expertise on investment stewardship, engaging with companies on behalf of those teams when appropriate, and assisting in recommending, operationalizing and reporting on voting decisions.
Summary
The Global Client Strategy Lead develops and executes BAIS’s overarching client engagement strategy in partnership with Global Client Business Relationship Managers (GCB RM), Portfolio Management Group Product Strategists (PMG PS), and other key stakeholders. The role represents active stewardship internally and externally, delivers high‑quality client materials, gathers and analyses client feedback, and drives continuous improvement in BAIS’ client-related processes and practices.
This is a London-based role, reporting to the Global Business Manager for BAIS in New York.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a global client engagement platform that ensures consistent, effective communication of BAIS activities, objectives, and outcomes.
- Partner on the creation and global distribution of BAIS client collateral.
- Host client meetings, alongside PMG and GCB, to inform clients and gather feedback on stewardship topics.
- Translate client feedback into actionable insights and track implementation and impact across BAIS.
- Address client questions on stewardship activities and operations, collaborating with BAIS colleagues and cross‑functional partners.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders—including PMG PS, GCB, Sustainable & Transition Solutions, Marketing, Legal & Compliance, and Government Affairs & Public Policy—to ensure alignment on client engagement initiatives.
- Deploy data analysis and AI tools to monitor trends in stewardship, corporate governance, and sustainability, and recommend and develop new collateral to support client understanding.
- Partner with the BAIS Communications and Reporting Lead to improve content and processes for RFPs, DDQs, and client reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, law, or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in an investment or client‑facing role.
- Sound knowledge of financial markets, investing, and stewardship.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as data analytics and experience in using AI tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content for diverse audiences.
- Strong relationship‑building skills and ability to work across functions, regions, and seniority levels.
- Highly organized and detail‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
