Position Overview

The Head of Client Portfolio Management is a senior, highly visible leader within SSIM’s Investment Organization. The role represents Systematic Equity investment capabilities to clients and prospects globally, articulates the team’s investment approach and value proposition, and strengthens the connection among Investment, Distribution, Product, and Marketing.

The role leads a high-performing global team responsible for client engagement, investment positioning, thought leadership, and sales and servicing support across Index, Enhanced, Active, and Customized Equity capabilities. The team works as an extension of Portfolio Management throughout the client lifecycle, from initial engagement and finals presentations through ongoing service and business-retention discussions.

This is a rare opportunity to become one of the most visible leaders within a leading systematic equity platform, combining investment expertise, client influence, and commercial impact while shaping the future direction of a global business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage a global team of Client Portfolio Managers supporting Index, Enhanced, Active, and Customized Equity capabilities.
  • Set clear priorities and standards for client engagement, investment positioning, thought leadership, and collateral development across the Systematic Equity business.
  • Partner with Distribution teams to identify market opportunities, position relevant capabilities, and support new business development.
  • Work closely with Portfolio Management and Distribution to retain at-risk business and address complex client needs.
  • Represent SSIM in key client, consultant, and prospect meetings, including finals presentations and ongoing portfolio reviews.
  • Explain investment philosophy, processes, portfolio positioning, performance drivers, and relevant market developments to sophisticated institutional audiences.
  • Oversee the development of high-quality white papers, presentations, and other investment content that educates investors and advances strategically important SSIM capabilities.
  • Build strong, productive partnerships across Investment, Distribution, Product, and Marketing to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated execution.
  • Provide subject matter expertise internally and externally, serving as a credible representative of Systematic Equity alongside senior Portfolio Managers and the Chief Investment Officer.
  • Support high-touch clients with complex or non-standard servicing requirements and tailored investment content.
  • Monitor the market and competitive landscape to keep product positioning timely, differentiated, and relevant.
  • Travel extensively to support clients, prospects, consultants, and internal partners.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 7 to 10 years of relevant investment industry experience; prior portfolio management experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams in a global, collaborative environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial theory, empirical research, equity investment processes, and institutional portfolio management.
  • Experience with statistical and analytical tools, including Axioma, FactSet, and Morningstar Direct.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex investment concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Credibility and confidence engaging with sophisticated institutional clients, consultants, senior investment professionals, and executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to influence across the organization and build effective relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Strong business development, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented leadership style combined with initiative, sound judgment, and accountability.
  • Relevant academic qualifications and/or professional designation; experience in a comparable client-facing investment role is strongly preferred.

Leadership Attributes

  • Client focused and commercially minded, with a strong commitment to investment integrity.
  • Clear and compelling communicator, who can adapt messages to different audiences.
  • Inclusive leader who sets high standards, develops talent, and fosters collaboration.
  • Strategic thinker who translates market insights and client needs into practical priorities.
  • Comfortable operating in a visible role with multiple stakeholders and competing demands.
