An opportunity has arisen to join the our P&O Ferries team in Hull, working as a Port Operative (Customer Operations Agent - Quay) responsible for supporting the leadership team in delivering cost effective port operations service to all customers, in a safe and compliant manner. Working to a fixed shift pattern, the role will support the discharge and loading of our vessels, working in co-operation with other members of the Port and Ship team, ensure maximum efficiency and capacity, ensuring the vessel is moored safely while in Port, and that it leaves on time every time.

The successful candidate will have a full clean driving licence and preferably a HGV Class 1 though not essential, with experience in using a variety of equipment including reach stackers, forklift trucks, and RoRo tractor units. They will have excellent communication and customer service skills and ideally experience of working in a similar environment with the flexibility to work at all times of day and outside. 

Key responsibilities and duties: 

· To discharge and load RoRo cargo in a safe and efficient manner, working in co-operation with Port and Ship Supervision/Management to load to optimal capacity. 

· To secure and unsecure cargo on board vessels in a controlled, timely and safe manner and to ensure that all lashing equipment is correctly stowed. 

· To ensure effective Mooring of the vessels on arrival and departure 

· To place Health & Safety at the forefront of all tasks and ensure the safety of self and others in the carrying our of duties 

· To use a variety of equipment within the recognised skill set, for the execution of the job, including: RoRo tractor units, Reach Stackers, Forklift trucks. To use all equipment in line with company standards, ensuring appropriate checks are carried out and defects/issues reported. 

· To deliver a high standard of customer service to internal and external customers and to present a positive image of P&O Ferries at all times. 

· To be vigilant in helping to maintain the Company’s security culture on site, taking immediate action/reporting of any incidents. 

The ideal candidate will: 

· have excellent customer service skills, 

· ability to work as part of a team, 

· be able to work under pressure 

· have a full clean driving licence 

· possess good health and safety knowledge 

· have experience of working in a Port environment 

· willing to work outside in all weather conditions 

· Respond positively to instructions and able to meet strict deadlines 

Location – Hull, this role operates on a shift basis working 40 hours per week, which includes public holidays. So flexibility is key 

Desirable: 

· Experience of working with equipment such as Reach Stackers and Forklifts 

· Be Health & Safety focussed 

· HGV Class 1 licence
