Job DescriptionThe job function entails the coordination of product verification and validation activities with product development teams. The Validation Engineer will act as the principal technical representative of the Product Assurance Engineering (PAE) group, actively participating on multiple projects.
The primary mission/goal is to ensure that products are validated to Bose, customer and industry standards prior to product shipment. This includes the creation and management of early product risk assessments and responsibility for creating and maintaining the validation plan. This position is also responsible for reviewing this plan with the development teams and obtaining their agreement, as well as coordinating the execution of the validation plan across the Product assurance Engineering functions, with Leading Contract Manufacture(CM) to perform testing as needed.
Responsibilities
1. The Validation Engineer (VE) is responsible for the coordination of product verification and validation activities within product development teams. The VE will act as the principal technical representative for the validation activities, actively participating on multiple projects at a time.
2. Responsible to define the environmental and mechanical test requirements of the program, and use existing test methods and procedures, as well as develop new methods and procedures as needed, in support of new product hardware development. As ITP and VP owner to consolidate all input from Global PAE team.
3. Be expected to work with other disciplines within PAE to ensure that their plans are also defined and managed. These disciplines include, but are not limited to Safety, International Certifications, Reliability, Energy Efficiency and Engineering Compliance.
4. Possess excellent communication skills to ensure that global project team members are kept informed of testing status in timely manner.
5. Understand the possible impact of changes of a design across all the disciplines within PAE.
6. Lead CM to perform testing as needed to support projects. Include but not limited validation setup and conduct testing on diverse new and existing products and electro-mechanical components.
7. Lead CM to do troubleshooting and perform analysis of test failures leading to root cause determination of failure.
8. Prepare or review and approve test reports that accurately document test conditions, sample results and findings.
9. Escalation owner for any technical topic related to PAE or VP (to PE, to PAE weekly risk management meeting, to PAE functional managers)
10. Create and maintain PAE team project site on SharePoint, organize and share the data on the site, run PAE team meetings (outside core design team meetings)
Skills and experience required
1. Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering required is required; Master degree is preferred.
2. Experience with testing of Wireless Products (Bluetooth, WiFi), transducers, and Audio Precision is preferred.
3. Experience with the following software is also preferred: MS Office, MS Project, SharePoint, PTC Integrity.
4. 8+ years’ experience with commensurate skills in managing the testing and/or validation of consumer products, and good CM/Supplier management skill.
5. The ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a strong commitment to team projects and deadlines is required.
6. Must have a flexible style that accommodates working on multiple projects in collaboration with members of various organizations and project teams.
7. A passion for Audio/Music and or experience in the audio industry is strongly desired.
8. Demonstrated knowledge of Environmental & Mechanical testing processes. 9. Familiarity with all aspects and phases of engineering product development and fundamentals of common manufacturing techniques and technologies.
10. Excellent written and verbal English proficiency is required.
