Why does this matter? Because our platform makes trading fixed-income more accessible, ultimately improving transparency, efficiency, and competition in the marketplace. Changing the way an established industry transacts is no easy feat. There will be twists and turns, because no one’s ever done this before. But now, more than 2,000 clients around the world rely on our solutions, and that number is only expected to grow in the years ahead. We know where we’re going. How we get there is up to us. Join us and help Take Us There.

The Role

MarketAxess – a leading electronic trading platform in the US, European, and Asian markets – is seeking a technology professional able to provide development and technical operations support for the RFQ-hub platform.

The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, has a strong technical background, and excels at communicating with clients, product stakeholders, and development teams. They will play a critical role in maintaining system reliability, improving operations, and ensuring smooth performance of our trading platform.

RFQ-hub allows requestors to negotiate trades in ETFs and Derivatives with liquidity providers globally to streamline trading workflows and help liquidity seekers find liquidity. We are excited about the growth opportunities ahead and are building a fast-paced, collaborative environment where all team members will have the opportunity to make a material impact on the business.

How You’ll Help Take Us There

Production Support & Operational Ownership

  • Actively support production systems during trading hours, investigating and resolving technical issues as they arise.
  • Diagnose issues using logs, metrics, SQL queries, and application-level debugging.
  • Support business and client queries by extracting and interpreting system and trading data.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with relationship managers, clients, and internal stakeholders during incidents.
  • Participate in incident reviews and postmortems, ensuring issues are addressed through code, automation, or architectural improvements.

Operations-driven software development

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of services and internal tools to deliver targeted features, fixes, and refactors that directly improve system stability, operability, and supportability.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code using C#, F#, and TypeScript.
  • Work closely with product, engineering, and integration teams to ensure operational and reliability considerations are addressed quickly and efficiently.

Integration & Connectivity

  • Configure, support, and improve FIX connectivity for requestors and responders, including algos and vendor integrations.
  • Participate in client onboarding and certification processes, with a focus on improving automation and the overall integration experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or site reliability/production engineering roles.
  • Strong development experience in C#, TypeScript, or a similar language.
  • Solid SQL skills for diagnostics, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience supporting or operating production systems, ideally in a timesensitive environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to leverage GenAI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or equivalent) to accelerate development and improve code quality.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with trading systems, capital markets, or real-time financial platforms
  • Familiarity with distributed or high availability systems
  • Exposure to Windows and Linux environments, networking concepts, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Interest in growing deeper into system design, platform ownership, and senior software development and engineering responsibilities.
  • Skill in applying AI-driven practices such as prompt engineering and AI-assisted code reviews to boost productivity and reduce delivery time while mitigating risks.
