Our dynamic in-house Global Tax Operations team are ready for a Senior Tax Manager to join them. If you are a qualified accountant with significant UK direct tax and tax reporting experience, this is an excellent opportunity to experience and influence UK tax compliance and accounting in a FTSE 100.

Reporting to Tax Associate Directors and supported by our Tax Delivery Team, you will help our team, headed by a Senior Tax Director, drive the delivery of our UK direct tax compliance and support with group tax reporting processes. You will be a diligent and technically strong individual with a solid commercial competence and a genuine passion for understanding AstraZeneca's business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support with preparation and review of UK corporation tax computations and other UK obligations, including considerable claims e.g. patent box and capital allowances.

  • Delegate and review analysis to support tax activities prepared by finance colleagues.

  • Support with operation of wider tax governance processes, including obligations under the Corporate Criminal Offence legislation and Senior Accounting Officer regime.

  • Review and advise on UK tax issues including Corporate Interest Restriction rules, Controlled Foreign Companies risk assessments.

  • Stay ahead of changes in UK tax legislation, understand implications and design changes in processes.

  • Liaise with the various accounting teams within the UK to ensure accurate and timely delivery of information required for tax reporting, the tax computations and audit queries.

  • Prepare responses to HMRC audit queries and participate in meetings and negotiations with HMRC, as required.

  • Provide day-to-day tax advice to the UK business and assess implications of projects on UK compliance and tax accounting.

  • Prepare quarterly and year-end tax provisions for UK reporting and Group consolidation, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley processes and collaborating closely with statutory auditors.

  • Input into group planning and forecasting cycles.

  • Help drive process efficiencies through use of automation and AI

Requirements:

  • Qualified (ACCA, ACA, CTA) tax professional with good accounting skills.

  • Significant experience in UK corporate tax compliance and reporting

  • Ability to monitor changes in UK tax legislation, assess business impact, and translate those changes into updated processes or controls.

  • Forecasting and planning support: Experience contributing to group planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycles from a tax perspective.

  • Strong analytical and research skills, and ability to utilise technology effectively to operate tax processes.

  • Ability to lead and progress numerous actions in a coordinated and organised manner.

  • Efficient process management and delegation skills.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.

  • Interest or experience in automation and AI-enabled process improvement
