Overview

The Senior Social Media Manager is a leadership‑driven role at the heart of the agency’s Creative department. Your primary focus will be to lead, mentor, and develop the social team, ensuring they are empowered, supported, and equipped to deliver exceptional work. You will shape team culture, drive operational excellence, and ensure the smooth, high‑quality delivery of social activity across a portfolio of clients.
While team management is the core of this role, you will also bring strong social media expertise to guide strategic thinking, uphold creative standards, and ensure our outputs remain innovative, effective, and aligned with client objectives. Reporting into the Creative Director, you will contribute to setting the direction for the agency’s social offering and act as a senior advisor when needed.
This role requires strong people leadership, proven experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to champion both performance and culture.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & People Development
- Lead, manage, and mentor Social Media Managers and junior team members, ensuring clear growth paths, performance expectations, and ongoing professional development.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture built on trust, accountability, and creativity.
- Oversee day‑to‑day team operations, including resource planning, prioritisation, and workload management.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and support to help the team elevate their work and strengthen decision‑making.
- Champion effective ways of working, ensuring processes, communication, and collaboration are consistent and efficient across the team.
- Support the Creative Director in shaping the structure, capabilities, and long-term development of the social team.
Creative & Content Excellence
- Guide the creation of engaging, on-brand social activations across owned, earned, and paid media.
- Collaborate with creative and production teams to ensure best-in-class content is tailored for platform, audience, and objective.
- Bring new ideas and approaches to the table for campaigns, content franchises, creator collaborations, and always-on activities.
- Proactively identify real-time trends and reactive opportunities that align with client brand values.
- Provide high-level direction on content quality, ensuring it meets brand, creative, and platform-specific standards.
- Encourage new ideas for campaigns, content franchises, creator collaborations, and always‑on activity, guiding the team to push boundaries.
- Support the team in identifying real-time cultural and platform trends that can be leveraged within client work.
Client Management & Collaboration
- Act as a senior point of contact for escalations, providing clear solutions and direction when challenges arise.
- Support client meetings and presentations where leadership presence is required, while empowering the team to lead day-to-day interactions.
- Partner with Creative, Strategy, Client Service, Production, Talent, and Paid Media teams to ensure seamless integration and consistent delivery.
Performance & Innovation
- Support and oversee team on monitoring, analysing, and reporting on campaign and always-on performance, providing senior-level insights and optimisation plans.
- Promote a culture of effectiveness, helping the team use insight tools to improve strategy and optimisation.
- Stay ahead of emerging platforms, behaviours, and technologies, sharing relevant updates with the team and broader agency.
- Drive innovation across team processes, creative approaches, and social best practices.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- 5+ years of experience in social media within an agency or senior brand role.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering impactful social media strategies and campaigns for major brands.
- Exceptional knowledge of all major and emerging social platforms
- Experience managing and mentoring teams, with a focus on growing talent and building a strong team culture.
- Proficiency in social listening, analytics, and insight tools (e.g., GWI, Talkwalker, Sprinklr, Hootsuite).
- Confident in delivering senior-level client presentations and advising on social strategy.
Desirable
- Expertise in paid social management, optimisation, and measurement.
- Experience leading influencer and creator-driven campaigns.
- Familiarity with broader marketing principles, digital marketing techniques and creative strategy.
