ABOUT US

We’re the world’s leading provider of secure financial messaging services, headquartered in Belgium. We are the way the world moves value – across borders, through cities and overseas. No other organisation can address the scale, precision, pace and trust that this demands, and we’re proud to support the global economy.

We’re unique too. We were established to find a better way for the global financial community to move value – a reliable, safe and secure approach that the community can trust, completely. We’re always striving to be better and are constantly evolving in an ever-changing landscape, without undermining that trust. Five decades on, our vibrant community reflects the complexity and diversity of the financial ecosystem. We innovate diligently, test exhaustively, then implement fast. In a connected and exciting era, our mission has never been more relevant. Swift now has a presence in 200+ countries and legal territories to serve a community of more than 12,000 banks and financial institutions.

Role overview

Are you deeply familiar with cross‑border payments and how financial institutions operate end to end — from front‑end payment initiation to back‑end processing and interbank exchange?

Do you enjoy working with banks, vendors, and internal teams to ensure that payment scheme capabilities are not only well designed, but also successfully rolled out, adopted, and used in practice?

Do you combine strong payments knowledge with the ability to engage a community, tell a clear product story, and support institutions through change?

We are looking for a Product Manager for the Swift payments scheme, with a strong focus on productisation, adoption, and scale, aligned with the scheme’s core values of predictability, transparency, interoperability, and trust.

The role

You will join the Payments team and play a key role in ensuring that Swift payments scheme capabilities move smoothly from definition to rollout and usage across the community.

Your focus will be on:

  • positioning scheme capabilities clearly,
  • supporting rollout and implementation,
  • driving adoption and consistent usage,
  • and scaling participation across regions and market segments.

You will work closely with banks, vendors, regional teams, Standards, and product colleagues to remove adoption barriers and ensure scheme value is realised end to end.

Key activities

Working in close contact with customers and internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for supporting scheme adoption, usage growth, and quality at scale.

Specifically, you will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of payment schemes and end‑to‑end payment journeys to articulate clearly how scheme capabilities improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and predictability.
  • Drive the rollout of new or enhanced scheme capabilities by supporting banks and vendors through clear positioning, guidance, and adoption plans.
  • Engage actively with the payments community through workshops, briefings, community calls, and bilateral interactions to encourage uptake and gather feedback.
  • Translate scheme intent into clear, practical guidance that supports consistent implementation and usage across different institutions and markets.
  • Work closely with Product, Standards, Architecture, and Technology teams to ensure scheme evolution is understandable, usable, and aligned with real‑world bank constraints.
  • Identify adoption and usage challenges early and work with internal and external stakeholders to address them pragmatically.
  • Develop enablement assets such as usage guides, FAQs, adoption playbooks, and presentation materials to support banks and vendors throughout the rollout lifecycle.
  • Support regional and global teams with concise, coherent messages that explain scheme value, scope, and usage expectations.
  • Track adoption and usage signals from the market and feed insights back into product and scheme evolution.
  • Contribute to shaping the scheme’s value proposition and evolution roadmap with a strong focus on scalability and long‑term usage.

Critical skills required

You are someone who:

  • Has strong experience in payments and a solid understanding of cross‑border payment processes and operating models.
  • Understands payment schemes and standards; ISO 20022 knowledge is a strong advantage.
  • Is comfortable engaging with the industry and can explain complex scheme concepts in a clear, practical, and credible way.
  • Has experience supporting product or service rollouts and driving usage across a customer base.
  • Thinks in terms of adoption, consistency, and scale — not just design.
  • Is structured, pragmatic, and outcome‑oriented.
  • Can influence without formal authority and collaborate effectively in a complex, matrix environment.
  • Is detail‑conscious and quality‑driven, while keeping a strong focus on end‑user and community impact.
  • Is a team player who communicates clearly, listens actively, and adapts to changing priorities.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Marketing, Economics, Management, Engineering, Science, or Technology (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of professional experience across payments, scheme management, product roles, customer engagement, or service rollout.
  • Broad industry exposure to cross‑border payments challenges and solutions, ideally from a bank, PSP, scheme, or vendor perspective.

What we offer

We give you the freedom to be yourself. We are creating an environment of unique individuals – like you – with different perspectives on the financial industry and the world. A diverse and inclusive environment in which everyone’s voice counts and where you can reach your full potential.
