ERM, the worlds largest pure play sustainability consultancy, are seeking to hire a dynamic and driven international biodiversity consultant to join our Capital Project Delivery Team, the role is based in London. As our new colleague, you will work with a diverse group of major corporates to manage material nature-related risks by safeguarding biodiversity at the asset level and developing ambitious strategies for a nature positive transition.

The role

  • Work within a team to deliver Environmental Social Impact Assessments and Environmental Social Due Diligence services to private sector clients and financial institutions on global projects across sectors
  • Interpret and apply financial lender standards on biodiversity and ecosystem services (e.g. IFC Performance Standard 6) in the development of ESIAs, as well as due diligence reports and action plans
  • Support the design and execution of biodiversity and ecosystem services baseline surveys, including the supervision subcontractors, management of health and safety and coordination of logistics
  • Advise on the implementation of the mitigation hierarchy, including through the design and review Biodiversity Management Plans, Biodiversity Action Plans, Critical Habitat Assessments and Biodiversity Offset Strategies
  • Review and advise on biodiversity monitoring approaches and actions to achieve net positive impact
  • Support corporates in developing biodiversity/nature-positive strategies that manage nature-related impacts, dependencies, risks and opportunities at the site level up to the corporate-level
  • Advise on appropriate biodiversity metrics for both project-level and portfolio (corporate) level use to measure changes to the state of nature
  • Organise and participate in stakeholder meetings, interviews and workshops

About you

You are someone who has a strong interest in making a positive impact in addressing the nature and biodiversity crisis. You are proactive and know how to engage people and communicate complex topics clearly. Beyond your work experience and background, we really value enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and drive.

Essential attributes include:

  • Bachelor's degree in ecology, biology or equivalent
  • Solid consulting experience in a biodiversity or ecology role
  • Experience applying lender standards (e.g. IFC PS6, EBRD PR6)
  • Technical data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Solid report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate to a wide set of stakeholders
  • Driven, motivated and passionate about positive change to biodiversity and the natural environment
  • Fluency in English
