Who are we?

Howden is a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of insurance. We are united by a shared passion and no-limits mindset, and our strength lies in our ability to collaborate as a powerful international team comprised of 24,000 employees spanning over 56 countries.

The Role

From day one, our mission has been to create an independent business with a unique culture – one that is controlled by the people who work for it. Finding the most talented and entrepreneurial people has always been key to our success.

We now have an exciting opportunity to join us on a permanent basis, as an Advisor within our M&A Insurance Due Diligence (IDD) team based at our head office in London.

We are seeking a personable and ambitious individual to assist in growing our insurance due diligence business. The role will require an entrepreneurial approach, a willingness to use initiative, a desire to help train & mentor junior members of the team and the ability to work well as part of a team. As part of the role, you will provide insurance advice to investor clients. Our clients include Private Equity, Corporate and Infrastructure investors.

People come to Howden for lots of different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. That’s what sets us apart, and why we nurture and retain the best talent in the market. Whatever your priorities – work/life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering – you’ll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.

What you'll do

With support from Howden M&A, you will provide pre-acquisition and pre-divestment insurance due diligence services. Key elements of the role include:

  • Advise clients on the existing and historical insurance programme to determine if the insurance programme is in line with expectations;

  • Identify risk and insurance related issues that may impact the transaction;

  • Determine current costs associated with the insurance programme and estimate what these costs will be post-completion;

  • Review claims data to identity any trends;

  • Issue a formal report to the investor client, followed by a meeting to discuss the findings of the report; and

  • Establish a post-completion placement strategy (if relevant).

Who we're looking for

  • At least a few years’ experience of working in the insurance industry.

  • A high degree of knowledge of Liability, Property or Financial Lines insurances.

  • Previous experience of providing IDD services to investor clients would be beneficial.

  • Analytical, with an attention to detail.

  • Articulate, personable and willing to meet clients/prospective clients and their advisors to explain our offering.

  • Likely to hold the ACII qualification (but this is not critical).

What do we offer in return?

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:

  • Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new

  • We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges

  • We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond

Reasonable adjustments

We're committed to providing reasonable accommodations at Howden to ensure that our positions align well with your needs.  Besides the usual adjustments such as software, IT, and office setups, we can also accommodate other changes such as flexible hours* or hybrid working*.

If you're excited by this role but have some doubts about whether it’s the right fit for you, send us your application – if your profile fits the role’s criteria, we will be in touch to assist in helping to get you set up with any reasonable adjustments you may require.

*Not all positions can accommodate changes to working hours or locations. Reach out to your Recruitment Partner if you want to know more.
