About Us

MarketAxess is on a journey to digitally transform one of the world’s largest financial markets, enabling the shift from analog, phone-based trading to a fully electronic marketplace. Why does this matter? Because our platform makes trading fixed-income more accessible, ultimately improving transparency, efficiency, and competition in the marketplace. Changing the way an established industry transacts is no easy feat. There will be twists and turns, because no one’s ever done this before. But now, more than 2,000 clients around the world rely on our solutions, and that number is only expected to grow in the years ahead. We know where we’re going. How we get there is up to us. Join us and help Take Us There.

The Role

As a Quant Research Intern, you will develop data solutions that power both our trading and data businesses, leveraging MarketAxess' proprietary platform data. You will help build out our suite of products including analytics, our award-winning CP+ pricing, and other AI-driven solutions that address key trading decisions: What, How and When to trade, as well as Who to trade with. Join us in shaping the future of fixed income trading through innovation and data-driven insights. Will you Take Us There?

How You'll Help Take Us There

  • Leverage MarketAxess’ unique data to build new products and reports.
  • Take ownership of existing research models and reports.
  • Analyze corporate bond market activity and market microstructure.
  • Work closely with global product and development teams to enrich client trading solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking for

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a quantitative field (science, engineering, mathematics, or statistics is preferred) from an accredited college or university. This internship is intended for students with 2-3 semesters to complete until their degree is conferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in UK permanently without employment visa sponsorship required now or in the future.
  • Superb interpersonal skills.
  • Highly analytical, flexible and creative problem solver.
  • Well-organized, team-oriented, intellectually curious, and proactive.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills. This will ultimately require a mix of advanced querying / programming capabilities including R/Python, SQL, AWS, Tableau, and possibly intermediate machine learning.
  • Introductory understanding of global fixed income markets.
  • Strong data capabilities, including working with complex datasets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Collaboration and innovation are integral to our success – it's how we got to where we are and how we’ll maintain and grow our competitive advantage. We believe this best happens in an office environment. Employees in Quant Research work in the office 3 or more days a week. This approach still allows for flexibility depending on the business function you work within but also helps us maintain a collaborative office environment long-term.
