Quality Assurance Advisor – Aintree

What will this role achieve?

Reporting to the Site Compliance Manager at our Aintree factory, the Quality Assurance (QA) Advisor plays a key role in providing the site with QA, Food Safety, Pest Control and Process Integrity advice and support. You will implement pladis Central QA and Food Safety policies and procedures and drive continuous improvement of the site standards and systems. You will manage the site’s Quality and Food Safety systems and internal audit programmes whilst supporting the site in managing complaint, issue and incident prevention and investigations, and in delivering compliance to all legal, pladis, Retailer and other external relevant standards.

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and expertise in QA and Food Safety matters in order to provide the Site Compliance Manager and the site with appropriate advice and support.
  • Responsible for maintaining and facilitating continuous improvement in all aspects of the site’s Quality and Food Safety management systems and standards, in line with the groups systems and policies.
  • Play the lead role for the implementation and maintenance of a robust Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system to maintain food safety across the site.
  • Support the Crisis Incident Management (CIM) process for QA & Food Safety issues by carrying out formal risk assessments and reports into the site’s Green Team.
  • Drive the Everyday Quality agenda for the site; address quality issues and determine the site requirements for quality improvements.
  • Provide QA input into the formal specification reviews at site, this includes managing the product scoring agenda.
  • Approve SOPs relating to QA & Food Safety, Ingredient and Product Specifications.
  • Provide and advise on appropriate site QA & Food Safety training as required.
  • Audit, monitor and review the implementation of QA and Food Safety policies, working practices, procedures and standards for all respective operations
  • Co-ordinate all site audits through the Central Audit Team and accompany auditors on site.
  • Drive close out of issues and non-conformance. Support manufacturing teams in ensuring compliance and has responsibility for compliance and issue resolution relating to QA and Food Safety systems.
  • Hold overall responsibility for the vendor performance process for the site to ensure all raw materials meet the required quality and food safety standards.
  • Collate data and information and reports on site’s Quality and Food Safety performance.

  • Proven practical experience in a quality role
  • Experience of managing HACCP systems
  • Confident with use of IT
  • Food or science based HND
  • Level 4 Food Safety
  • Level 4 HACCP
  • Formal auditing qualification
  • Experience of working in a cross functional team
  • Good people skills – ability to communicate and influence people at all levels on site and the business 
  • Experience of operating in a FMCG organisation
  • Effective communication and presentation skills 

Desirable

  • Food or science based degree
  • IOSHH Managing Safety
