About the role

The Senior Product Manager (Performance & Talent) within the Enterprise Applications / HR, Legal & Compliance Systems team, which is part of the D&T CTO organisation, will work closely with HR business teams, Tech Product & Service teams, third party vendors and service providers to ensure proper functional design, implementation, and support for Tech solutions and first class tech enablement, standardisation, continuous improvement and compliance of end-to-end HR Tech functional operability.

The Senior Product Manager (Performance & Talent) will be accountable for leading & working with their product team to define, implement and optimize our Performance & Talent system (Workday) & any related systems (e.g., talent acquisition tools). They will possess strong HR business process & tech functional (Workday Talent & Performance Mgt; other TA tools) experience to be able to provide technical guidance and advice to the Head of HR, Legal & Compliance Tech, Product Directors/Managers & Experts and HR business process / delivery owners to ensure that HR solution functionality is fit for purpose, meets the priorities & requirements from our stakeholders (e.g. alignment to business process & solution architecture design principles) and deliver value to our end users. They will have technical experience in their area specific to their domain, be accountable for technical artifacts (such as system requirements, Tech continuity plans) and ensure full compliance with internal security, risk management policies and practices, external regulatory and statutory requirements. They will also be responsible for working with Service Teams to manage change and release activities, including Software as a Service (SaaS) updates, in the production service and ensuring compliance.

This pivotal role will be a part of our Business Enterprise Applications Technology team, reporting directly to the Head of HR, Legal & Compliance systems.

Product Vision, Strategy & alignment:

Individuals at this level take ownership of identifying and managing dependencies with other teams at a Tribe or Pillar level, demonstrating advanced skills in influencing and coordinating with these teams to prioritise and address dependencies effectively. They provide strategic leadership, mentorship, and make critical decisions to ensure successful project delivery.

Measuring Success & product Evaluation

They excel in defining comprehensive success metrics and leveraging sophisticated data analytics tools and methodologies to conduct in-depth analysis of product performance. They have a deep understanding of user behaviour, product usage patterns, and market trends, allowing them to make strategic decisions to Optimise product performance effectively. They conduct thorough reviews and retrospectives, identifying actionable insights to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Product Financial Management & Operations

Individuals at this level possess advanced skills in financial acumen and product operations. They excel in leading and optimising operational activities, managing financial budgets across multiple teams and projects with precision, and ensuring strict alignment with the overarching product strategy. They have a deep understanding of how financial decisions impact organisational objectives and actively collaborate with Engineering Leads to provide advanced financial options regarding engineering resource management, considering factors like in-house versus outsourced capabilities.


Data Analysis & Interpretation

They demonstrate advanced skills in extracting actionable insights from diverse datasets, using sophisticated analytical techniques. They are capable of independently leading data-driven initiatives, contributing to the development of data-driven decision-making processes within the product team.

Product Design

Individuals at this level possess advanced skills in product design. They excel in championing a user-centric approach to product development, ensuring that the customer's perspective remains central to all decision-making processes. They demonstrate expertise in conducting comprehensive user research, developing detailed personas, and conducting thorough usability testing to inform design decisions. Market Research & Competitive Analysis

They have advanced skills in staying informed about industry trends and competitors, conducting thorough analyses to inform product strategies. They are capable of independently leading market research initiatives, contributing significantly to identifying opportunities and threats.

Stakeholder Communication:

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to review, communicate, and address application performance with business stakeholders, software providers and service providers, adapting their style where necessary to establish an effective communication and performance improvement framework.

Leadership & Development: 

The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced skills in leading and developing direct reports in line with HR and Tech strategies, driving matrix teams when necessary. They will use their experience to support the development of their team, making sound decisions and encouraging motivation, strategic thinking, innovation, and action. 

Expected Experience:

Exceptional understanding of and exposure to Performance & Talent Management processes within the end-to-end HR & cross functional business processes

8+ years’ experience of working with enterprise solutions in these areas: 

  • Workday Talent & Performance Mgt, Workday business processes (BP notifications, alerts, calculated field & rules)
  • Other related Talent Acquisition/Mgt tools, such as Eightfold, Beamery
  • Other Workday modules/areas (e.g., Core HCM, Reporting, Compensation) are a plus.
  • Product/software development tools: A-ha, Jira is a plus.

Being certified in Workday (Talent & Performance)

Proven track record in successful product delivery, via Agile and waterfall delivery methods (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2 or Scrum Inc. Product Owner)

Experience of ensuring Tech solutions are compliant with internal security, risk management policies and practices, external regulatory and statutory requirements (e.g. SOX)

Experience of managing change and release activities, including Software as a Service (SaaS) updates, in the production service and ensuring compliance

Experience of gathering business / system functional requirements and translate them into technical design specs, test scenarios/cases & documentation.

Experience of working on global deployments (Global / Localisation concept)

Experience of troubleshooting various system issues by being able to correctly identify the root cause and providing the technical fix, solution, or workaround.

Experience working with third parties in the delivery of working products.

Experience of leading & working with teams across diverse countries and cultures effectively, within a large global FMCG or FMCH organisation.

Understanding of ITIL Frameworks and service management practices for a complex, global service
