About Airwallex

Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 675,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own.

We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,700 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. Read our operating principles to see it in full.

How you'll make impact

Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll shape the future of Airwallex’s Finance team at the intersection of strategy, technology, and execution.

You’ll define and deliver the future of our global Finance function by diagnosing gaps, designing the target state, and building the solutions that get us there. You’ll connect processes, data, and platforms; make thoughtful build-versus-buy decisions; and align stakeholders around a clear transformation journey.

You’ll embed deeply with global Finance teams to identify high-impact use cases, own the AI transformation roadmap, take technical solutions from prototype to production, and codify effective working patterns into reusable building blocks. You’ll also help drive adoption, upskilling, and accountability by tracking and communicating the outcomes of your work.

You’ll work from our London office three days a week.

What we're looking for

Essentials

  • 5+ years of software or forward-deployed engineering experience.

  • Strong product sense, with the ability to evaluate engineering decisions through a commercial lens and connect technical work to user experience and business impact.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to independently map technical specifications from high-level direction.

  • A pragmatic, resourceful, and self-directed approach to solving technical and organisational blockers.

  • The ability to discuss deep technical trade-offs with infrastructure teams and present clear, simplified product outcomes to executive stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Strong academic credentials from a top-tier university.

  • Experience in top-tier management consulting, systems integration, or digital transformation leadership.

  • Hands-on experience with Finance systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite, and automation or AI tools such as machine-learning-based reconciliation and workflow platforms.

  • Familiarity with data architecture, analytics, and business intelligence to support decision-making and measure impact.

  • Experience building software that uses generative AI, LLMs, or automated agent workflows.

  • Experience in fintech, payments, multi-currency ledgering, or regulated financial systems.

  • Prior experience as a founder, founding engineer, or early employee.

You'll thrive here if
  • You're comfortable owning the roadmap yourself.

  • You own the outcome and you don't wait for permission to fix what's broken.

  • You're comfortable with ambiguity. Give you a problem, not a prescription, and you'll run with it.

  • You say what you mean. You're direct, but you lead with respect.

  • You come to the table with a point of view, not just a problem.

Sales

Our London office is scaling fast. We're a 140+ strong team and growing, and our Sales team is right at the heart of it. The momentum is real: we're investing over $1bn into the region and $590m into the UK. Revenue is up 116% year on year and volumes have surged 226%, and we’ve only captured a fraction of what’s possible. That's where you come in. You'll be selling a world-class proven product into a market that's still wide open. Global heavyweights like McLaren Racing, Arsenal, Bolt, Qantas, and Carwow already run on Airwallex. For you, that means real ownership from the start, a role you'll scale, and scope that grows as fast as you can sell. It's a rare moment to join: proven product, open market, and a team going places
