Job Description

As our Pensions Writer, you'll combine genuine pensions expertise with strong editorial judgement to turn complex rules, choices and industry changes into clear, useful content for our customers. You'll have pensions and retirement planning at the heart of your work, while also covering the investment, personal finance and economic issues that shape people's financial futures. Across articles, guides, newsletters, podcasts and video, you'll help people understand their options, make informed decisions and build the confidence that's at the heart of Feel Good Investing.

What you'll do

  • Research, write and edit engaging pensions and retirement content for our website, app, newsletters, guides and other customer communications.
  • Turn complex subjects such as pension tax rules, retirement income, drawdown, annuities, the State Pension, auto-enrolment, contribution allowances and pension transfers into clear, accessible content.
  • Stay on top of pensions legislation, regulation, government policy and industry developments, identifying the changes and topics that matter to customers.
  • Write across related personal finance and investment subjects, including ISAs, tax, savings, markets, inflation and interest rates.
  • Bring your pensions expertise to different formats, developing ideas and content for articles, campaigns, podcasts, videos and webinars.
  • Work closely with editorial, marketing, PR, product, technical and compliance colleagues to make sure our content is accurate, balanced and engaging.
  • Use audience insight, search trends and performance data to understand what works and continually improve our content.

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience writing about pensions, retirement planning or long-term savings, with the pensions knowledge to write confidently and authoritatively for a broad audience.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK pensions landscape, including defined contribution pensions, SIPPs, workplace pensions, pension tax rules and retirement options.
  • The ability to make complex or technical subjects clear, accurate and engaging, supported by excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Sound editorial judgement and an understanding of how accessible financial content needs to work within regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • An interest in personal finance, investing and the wider economy, and the confidence to work with subject matter experts to question and clarify technical detail where needed.
  • Your pensions writing experience could have been gained in journalism, financial services, a pension provider or investment platform, consultancy, an agency or another content-focused environment. What's important is your ability to write clearly and authoritatively about pensions for a broad audience.
  • Experience writing for retail investors or consumer finance audiences would be useful, as would knowledge of financial promotions and Consumer Duty.
  • Familiarity with SEO, digital publishing or content performance tools, or experience creating newsletters, guides, scripts, podcasts or video content, would be an advantage.
