Job Title Software Engineer

Locations: Surbiton – other UK locations considered | Hybrid

Global Investor and Distribution Solutions (GIDS) is the business unit offering this role. GIDS delivers global omni-channel investor servicing, including contact centre, using digital services.

Opportunity for an experienced Software Developer to join a specialist Actuarial Software Development team for our highly regarded calculations and illustrations software.

What You Will Get To Do:

  • As a full-stack developer, work as part of a small multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality software solutions to meet clients Illustration and Tooling needs.
  • Opportunity to develop product solutions and product enhancements to meet as well as input into the future product roadmap to ensure we continue to grow our offering.
  • Opportunity to continually make us better supporting process and control improvements

What You Will Bring:

  • Experience in software technical architecture design and coding practices
  • Able to translate a set of requirements to a software solution in precise detail
    • Extensive experience in the writing, reviewing and tracing code
    • Proven track record of developing efficient and legible code
    • Experience in some or all of vb.net, C#, asp.net, xml, json, webservices, XSLT, HTML and SQL Server
    • Creating programmable logic from regulations, statutory rules or calculation specification logic
    • Testing (Code Peer Reviews and independent testing) & investigating reported errors and discrepancies
  • Excellent communication, problem solving skills and experience of working as part of multi-disciplinary change projects/multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience being able to manage a complex workload and prioritise to meet project deadlines
  • Experience in server management (Windows & Cloud) and security best practice
  • Experience in designing and managing IT controls (highly desirable)
  • Excellent knowledge of UK life and pensions products and regulation (desirable)
