The Role
As a Life Investment Office Apprentice, you will have an exciting opportunity to begin your career within

Development is a priority where professional qualifications are supported alongside developing knowledge across a variety of different areas.
The M&G Life Investment Office (LIO) is responsible for approximately £155bn of assets, including the UK’s largest £130bn With-Profits Fund, delivering multi-asset and annuity solutions for the Prudential Assurance Company (PAC).
Backed by a team of 75 investment specialists with deep expertise across asset allocation, manager selection and oversight, strategy design, liability management, derivatives, and portfolio management, LIO combines scale, knowledge, and global partnerships to deliver resilient, diversified solutions that create long-term value for clients. As a LIO apprentice you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of different teams but with the benefit of them all being part of the same wider department who all work closely together.
What will you be doing?
As a Life Investment Office Apprentice you will:
Prepare monthly portfolio management information (MI) and other reports for the Investment Committee and various governance forums
Help to pull together pitch decks / presentations for a range of our multi-asset funds and propositions
Assist in overseeing the portfolios, including the implementation of investment and hedging strategies
Support the team in anything that can help support flows into our funds
Gain exposure to several different projects and initiatives within and outside the team
Participate and contribute to meetings, both within the team and with other stakeholders
Help to answer any queries the team may get from internal or external stakeholders
Provide ad hoc support to the wider team as and when required
What will I need to be successful in this role?
Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders
Well organised and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
A proactive team player who is confident about working independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required
Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion and a drive to learn
Minimum Requirements
Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2026
You must not be enrolled into another further education programme at the beginning of the programme
Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK
Living in England
Minimum of Grade 4 in GCSE English and Mathematics
Minimum of Grade C in Three A-Levels or equivalent such as BTEC Nationals
Training Provided
As a Life Investment Office Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Investment Operations Specialist Level 4 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses
Future Prospects
This is a fixed term contract for 18 - 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.
Salary
£26,900 per annum plus benefits
