Business Operations Director

About Perk

Perk is a platform for travel and spend management. We help companies reduce the manual work around travel, expenses, and invoices so teams can focus on their actual jobs. We work with over 10,000 companies globally and operate at meaningful scale. As the company grows, so does the complexity and importance of the decisions we need to make well.

About Business Operations

BizOps works on the company’s most important priorities at any given time. We focus on impact, prioritisation, and alignment across the business. There is no fixed scope and no BAU. You need to be ready to jump in on anything.

We are not an internal consulting team. We do not hand over recommendations and move on. We take ownership of outcomes, do the work required to move things forward, and stay involved until results are delivered. The problems we work on change as the company changes.

About the Role

You will own and drive critical initiatives that are imperative to the company’s success. These initiatives will change over time and can span strategy, transformation, and operational execution. You will report into the Vice President of Business Operations and work closely with a small team that supports the Office of the President & COO of Perk.

This includes:

  • Leading end-to-end, cross-functional initiatives tied to the company’s highest priorities, with shared accountability for outcomes

  • Getting up to speed quickly in new areas of the business and developing a working understanding of the context, constraints, and business levers

  • Structuring ambiguous problems, identifying the critical path, and helping the company focus on what matters most

  • Supporting alignment across teams so work is pulling in the same direction and moving with speed and focus

  • Helping the business prioritise ruthlessly, including identifying work that should stop or change direction

  • Identifying structural bottlenecks that slow the company down and taking ownership of unblocking them

  • Turning analysis into clear decisions and actions, and staying involved through execution to ensure results are delivered

  • Working closely with senior leaders on high-criticality topics while also operating hands-on where needed

  • Doing the work yourself when required, regardless of level, to move initiatives forward

What You’ll Do

You will own and drive critical initiatives that are imperative to the company’s success.

This includes:

  • Getting up to speed quickly in new areas of the business and identifying the real problems to solve

  • Structuring ambiguous problems and deciding what matters most

  • Moving between strategic thinking and detailed execution as needed

  • Turning analysis into decisions and action, and following through to delivery

  • Working across teams to remove blockers and keep work moving

  • Taking responsibility for outcomes, including navigating trade-offs and constraints

  • Doing the work yourself when required, regardless of level

  • Managing and leveraging stakeholders across the organization

  • Prioritizing impact over effort and enabling others to do the same

How You’ll Work and How Success Is Measured

You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and trust. At times you will be given high-priority work directly from senior leadership; at other times you will be expected to identify where your time can have the highest impact and take ownership of it.

You are expected to manage your time based on impact and return on effort, staying oriented to company strategy and priorities. You should be able to ramp quickly into new problem spaces and contribute at every level, from detailed operational work to senior-level strategic discussions.

You will fully own the initiatives you lead, including navigating trade-offs, constraints, and resistance. You are expected to push work forward decisively, escalating when appropriate but with a clear bias toward action and resolution.

The primary measure of success in this role is impact: are you consistently working on the right problems, and are you delivering outcomes that materially move the business forward and exceed expectations for this level.

Who This Role Is For

This role is a good fit for someone who:

  • Has a strong problem-solving background and experience applying it in real operating environments (e.g., blend of Consulting, Strategy & Ops, scaling in leading tech companies, etc.)

  • Has worked in high-growth or scaling companies and is comfortable with ambiguity and change

  • Can flex easily across strategy, transformation, and operational execution depending on what the situation requires

  • Understands how businesses work, including business models, operating levers, and KPIs, and can use that understanding to drive better decisions

  • Has a clear bias toward execution and follow-through, not just analysis

  • Is comfortable owning critical work without close oversight and being accountable for results

Equally important, we’re looking for someone who:

  • Is curious and comfortable taking work from zero to one

  • Uses judgment and imperfect information to move quickly rather than waiting for certainty

  • Has high EQ and builds trust easily across teams and levels

  • Can bring people along through change, especially in uncertain or high-pressure situations

  • Knows how to use relationships and networks to move work forward faster and more effectively

  • Is an effective communicator and has the ability to flex communications styles across all levels and roles

Why This Role

This role offers direct exposure to the company’s most important problems and the opportunity to shape how the business operates. You will work in a small, experienced team with high expectations around ownership, judgment, and delivery.
