Junior Video Editor

Your New Role: Junior Video Editor

As a Junior Video Editor at Global, you will support the Podcast Video team in creating high-quality long-form and short-form content across YouTube, Global Player and social. You’ll have a strong hands-on focus on editing while developing your editorial, creative and production skills alongside the wider Podcast team.

Key Responsibilities

Editing & Post-Production (70%)

  • Edit long-form and short-form video across Global’s podcast portfolio, developing your skills across pacing, multicamera switching, reactions, graphics, captions, inserts and visual storytelling. Adapt content for YouTube, Global Player and social platforms, follow agreed workflows and properly review and QC your work before delivery.

Production Support & Development (15%)

  • Support the Podcast Video team across studio, remote and off-site recordings where required. Develop your understanding and practical skills across camera operation, lighting, framing, audio and multicamera production, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience across recordings and shoots.

Creative Development & Team Contribution (15%)

  • Bring ideas to the content you work on, spot strong moments and opportunities for short-form content, and develop your understanding of what makes video engaging across different platforms. Work collaboratively with the wider Podcast Video team, respond positively to feedback and actively develop your creative, editorial and technical skills.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Developed a good understanding of the Podcast Video team’s workflows and creative standards.
  • Become confident editing long-form and short-form content within agreed deadlines.
  • Demonstrated growing editorial judgement around pacing, camera selection, reactions and visual storytelling.
  • Built strong working relationships across the Podcast Video team and wider Podcast team.
  • Become confident properly reviewing and QCing your own work.
  • Started developing your production knowledge through opportunities to support recordings and shoots.
  • Started contributing ideas and identifying strong content opportunities within the projects you work on.
What You’ll Need
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and a solid foundation in video editing.
  • A good eye for pacing, storytelling and engaging visual content.
  • An interest in YouTube, social video and digital content.
  • An understanding of short-form platforms including TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • A willingness to learn, take feedback and continue developing your craft.
  • An interest in developing wider video production skills alongside your core editing responsibilities.
  • Creative curiosity, enthusiasm and a proactive approach to your work.
