Junior Business Development Representative (Inbound Response)

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Business Development Representative (Inbound Response) to join our UKI Sales Development organisation at Genesys.

The Junior Business Development Representative (Inbound Response) is an early-career sales role focused on engaging and qualifying prospects who have shown an interest in Genesys. You will often be one of the first people a prospective customer speaks to, helping to understand their needs, identify potential opportunities and connect them with the right sales team.

This is a good opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in technology sales. You will gain hands-on experience in customer engagement, qualification, pipeline development and enterprise sales while working closely with experienced BDRs, Account Executives and Marketing across the UK and Ireland.

Genesys has an established BDR career path, and the Junior Business Development Representative (Inbound Response) role provides a foundation for developing the skills and experience needed to progress within our Sales Development organisation.

What You'll Do
  • Respond quickly and professionally to inbound enquiries and leads generated through Genesys marketing activities, digital channels, events and campaigns.

  • Engage prospects through phone, email and digital channels to understand their business needs and reasons for engaging with Genesys.

  • Qualify prospects based on their organisation, business challenges, priorities, timing and potential fit for Genesys.

  • Identify relevant stakeholders and understand who may be involved in the customer's decision-making process.

  • Prioritise inbound demand using available engagement, account and intent data.

  • Convert qualified interest into meetings and potential sales opportunities for the appropriate Business Development Representative or Account Executive.

  • Maintain accurate records of prospect engagement and qualification within our CRM.

  • Follow up consistently with prospects who are not yet ready for a sales conversation.

  • Work closely with Marketing, BDRs and Account Executives across UKI to ensure a smooth handover into the sales process.

  • Participate in relevant customer, industry and Genesys events.

  • Develop your understanding of Genesys, our customers, the customer experience industry and the growing role of AI in customer experience.

  • Build the prospecting, qualification and sales skills required to progress through the Genesys BDR career path.

Hybrid Working and Travel

This is a hybrid role, with a minimum expectation of two days per week in our London office.

Working alongside other BDRs and members of the Sales team is an important part of the role. Being in the office gives you the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues, collaborate on accounts, receive coaching and develop your sales skills.

The role also requires the flexibility to attend customer, partner and industry events and to travel for relevant business meetings, events and team activities when required.

What We're Looking For

You do not need to be an experienced enterprise salesperson. We are looking for someone with the potential and motivation to develop into one.

You should have:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Confidence speaking with prospective customers over the phone.

  • A curious and customer-focused approach to conversations.

  • The ability to ask good questions and listen to understand a customer's needs.

  • Strong organisation and follow-up skills.

  • The ability to work in a structured, target-driven environment.

  • A willingness to learn, take feedback and continuously improve.

  • Resilience and a positive approach to working towards individual and team goals.

  • An interest in technology, AI, customer experience and B2B sales.

  • The ability to work effectively with Sales, Marketing and Business Development colleagues.

  • The ability to work from our London office a minimum of two days per week.

  • The flexibility to attend events and travel when required.

Previous experience in customer service, inside sales, lead generation, recruitment, hospitality, retail sales or another customer-facing environment would be beneficial, but previous SaaS or enterprise sales experience is not essential.

Knowledge of AI tools and experience using AI to support research, productivity, communication or sales activities would be very advantageous.

What Success Looks Like

Success in the Junior Business Development Representative (Inbound Response) role means:

  • Responding to inbound demand quickly and consistently.

  • Having good quality conversations with prospective customers.

  • Accurately identifying and qualifying genuine sales potential.

  • Creating qualified pipeline for the UKI sales organisation.

  • Maintaining strong CRM and lead management discipline.

  • Building good working relationships across BDR, Sales and Marketing.

  • Continuously developing your commercial, prospecting and qualification skills.

  • Learning how technology and AI can be used effectively within a modern sales environment.

Your Career at Genesys

The Junior Business Development Representative (Inbound Response) position is an entry point into the Genesys BDR career path.

You will work alongside experienced BDRs and sales professionals, receive ongoing coaching and gain practical experience in prospect engagement, qualification, account research, pipeline generation and enterprise technology sales.

As you develop your skills and demonstrate consistent performance, there are opportunities to progress into Business Development Representative roles, take on greater account and prospecting responsibility, and continue developing your career within Genesys.
