The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for an interim Senior Quality Control Analyst on a 6-month fixed-term contract to support the QC Team leader with leading the team by troubleshooting, assisting Juniors with issues, and offering solutions. The successful Senior QC Analyst will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the quality control function, including routine product quality checks of HPLC columns and a range of in-house manufactured separation media, and ensuring that all finished products are tested to meet the required specifications.
This role will be a full-time position based out of our Hichrom, Theale/Reading UK site. The working hours will be:
Monday – Friday from 9 AM – 5 PM
The team
Avantor’s Quality Control team covers quality checks for our own manufactured columns, used for HPLC testing. The team consists of 5 QC professionals, reporting to the QC Team leader.
What we’re looking for
- Language: Fluent verbal and written communication in English is essential
- Education: A Bachelor of Science is highly desirable, preferably in analytical chemistry.
- Experience: Solid experience in analytical chemistry is required, along with strong leadership skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a laboratory operating to an ISO9001 quality management system or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Chromatography
- Experience of working in a laboratory operating to an ISO9001 quality management system or equivalent.
- Experience of working in a laboratory operating to an ISO9001 quality management system or equivalent.
- Cleanroom operational knowledge is desirable but full training will be given
- Experience within a GMP environment desirable.
- Knowledge of an ERP system, specifically SAP is desirable, but full training will be given
How you will thrive and create an impact
- Daily supervision and training of junior analysts
- Final QC checks on goods before dispatch to the customer
- Preparing QC SOPs and reviewing product specifications
- Conducting OOS investigations where products fail to meet defined specifications
- Develop and implement analytical QC performance tests of in-house manufactured separation media to ensure lot-to-lot reproducibility, including pore size, surface area, and particle sizing
- Leading routine maintenance and validation activities
- Work with the wider QC team to carry out analytical QC release testing of in-house manufactured HPLC columns
- To ensure both your own and your colleague’s safety, by working in accordance with all relevant Production and Environmental, Health & Safety procedures, promptly reporting any incidents or accidents to a manager.
- Follow process procedures diligently and give feedback for process improvements.
