The Role
As a Financial Crime Compliance Apprentice, you will have an exciting opportunity to experience the different types of technical, analytical and practical work across a varied mixed disciplinary team. The Global Financial Crimes Compliance team is responsible for safeguarding our customers and the organisation against financial crime risks, including money laundering, fraud, bribery, corruption, and sanctions breaches. Acting as a second line of defence, the team provides oversight, guidance, and assurance to ensure that robust systems and controls are in place across the business throughout the globe.
This includes supporting with the development and maintenance of policies, delivering training and awareness, conducting risk assessments, analysing data, investigating financial crime concerns and monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements. By partnering with business units and senior leadership, the team promotes a strong risk culture and ensures adherence to FCA and global standards, industry best practice, and legal obligations, protecting the integrity of the financial system.
What will you be doing?
As a Financial Crime Compliance Apprentice you will be:
Supporting the team in delivering excellent service to internal customers in the UK and globally
Assisting with both transformation projects and Business as Usual activities, including coordinating queries, documents and stakeholders, reviewing outputs, and attending meetings
Developing knowledge and understanding of the financial crime landscape
Supporting financial crime governance, data analytics, MI and reporting, and the production of global Financial Crime policies, standards and advisory material
Helping with Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment activities and support the delivery of global training, awareness and communications.
Reviewing intelligence outputs to identify potential threats or vulnerabilities and help ensure appropriate actions are taken
Assisting with assurance and testing activities across global second line of defence Financial Crime functions, as well as first line of defence controls in the UK and internationally
Supporting and coordinating the effective implementation of the global financial crime risk management framework across the business
Carrying out additional tasks and team activities as required
What will I need to be successful in this role?
Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders with ease
Ability to manage processes and coordinating with different people, including seniors
Motivated to improve, adapt and be of value
Empathy and good listening skills
Efficient, proactive, structured approach to work and very well organised
High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
Can effectively manage day to day work, alongside apprenticeship qualification
Moderate understanding of the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
A proactive team player who is driven to ensure everyone succeeds and is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required
Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion and a drive to learn
Minimum Requirements
Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2026
You must not be enrolled into another further education programme at the beginning of the programme
Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK
Living in England
Minimum of Grade 4 in GCSE English and Mathematics
Minimum of Grade C in Three A-Levels or equivalent such as BTEC Nationals
Training Provided
As a Financial Crime Compliance Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Compliance and Risk Officer Level 3 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses
Future Prospects
This is a fixed term contract for 18 - 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.
Salary
£26,900 per annum plus benefits
