An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Consultant within the Financial Crime Management Information (MI) & Reporting team, where you’ll play a central role in transforming how management information and analytics are delivered. With a strong focus on Power BI, an upcoming migration to SAS Viya, and the adoption of modern, efficient ways of working, you’ll help shape a future‑ready reporting environment that moves the function away from legacy solutions and towards a scalable, well‑governed BI ecosystem.

You’ll use your deep-data expertise and end‑to‑end process understanding to modernise reporting, strengthen data controls and governance, and introduce innovative approaches that improve accuracy, resilience, and usability. As part of this, you’ll help embed new standards, reusable datasets and consistent design practices aligned to contemporary BI tooling and agile delivery. You’ll also support and mentor a team of experienced analysts and consultants as they transition reporting into Power BI, resolve data challenges, and adopt new methods, contributing to high‑quality MI delivered across Economic Crime, senior leadership, boards, and regulators.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, evolving environment and brings a strong track record of producing high‑quality reporting in Power BI, supported by solid SAS and SQL experience. You’ll combine excellent analytical skills with the confidence to navigate complex requirements, influence and collaborate across technical and non‑technical audiences, and operate with a high degree of ownership. This role sits within the Financial Crime Analytics team, part of the wider Protect function, delivering insight that supports effective decision‑making and helps safeguard members from economic crime.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll play a central part in the migration to SAS Viya and the transition to Power BI, helping to shape the future state reporting architecture, datasets, and design standards that will define how the function operates. You’ll quickly build a deep understanding of existing data sources, legacy reports, and workflows, translating them into robust, efficient Power BI solutions that support a modern, scalable reporting environment.

You’ll drive improvements in data quality, resilience, performance, and automation by strengthening modelling, governance, and tooling while ensuring evolving regulatory reporting needs are met with outputs that are accurate, auditable, and aligned to Financial Crime expectations. Alongside this, you’ll advise on data availability, gaps and constraints across project, regulatory, ad hoc and cyclical reporting, producing insights that influence key business decisions and support confident, well‑informed outcomes.

Collaboration will be a key part of your work, as you coach and support colleagues through data and reporting challenges, particularly during the migration and adoption of new tools and delivery methods. You’ll also contribute to wider change, risk, and data governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and helping embed strong ownership, quality, and control across the reporting landscape.

About you

As a minimum, you will have:

  • Strong, practical experience with Power BI, including DAX, report development, and performance optimisation, gained within a migration or transformation environment where you’ve helped shape modern reporting solutions

  • A proven ability to use SAS and SQL to work confidently with large, complex datasets from multiple sources, along with the skill to interpret insights and communicate them clearly and credibly to senior audiences

  • Experience supporting and coaching junior colleagues, creating an environment where others can grow, develop, and build confidence in their technical and analytical abilities

  • A solid background in data and MI, paired with commercial awareness and the ability to turn complex information into meaningful, actionable insight for senior stakeholders

  • An understanding of data governance and data quality principles and frameworks, such as BCBS239 or similar, and how they support strong, wellcontrolled reporting

  • Experience working within Financial Services or another large, regulated, and operationally complex organisation, bringing an appreciation of structured oversight, risk management, and effective controls

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
