Assistant Management Accountant - THG Ingenuity

Role Summary:

A central accounting role responsible for cost control, financial analysis, and monthly management reporting, this is a fantastic opportunity for a degree-qualified graduate in Accountancy to join our finance team as an Assistant Management Accountant. This role will primarily support the Commerce function, while also providing exposure to Central and Marketing teams.

You’ll play a key role in supporting cost control, financial analysis, and monthly reporting, while developing strong foundations in management accounting. This is an ideal role for someone motivated to progress towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA), with full support and exposure to a fast-paced, commercial environment to accelerate your development and build a successful career in finance.

Key Responsibilities:


Cost Control & Financial Analysis
  • Support the monthly cost control cycle, tracking actual spend against budget and highlighting variances
  • Assist in analysing costs across key business areas, particularly within Commerce, Procurement, and Technology
  • Help monitor and track business spend, ensuring alignment to budgets and business objectives
  • Support the identification of cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies
  • Gain exposure to evaluating financial impact of spend and investment decisions
Monthly Reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
  • Support the production of clear and concise financial reports for stakeholders
  • Help maintain accurate and reliable financial data and reporting outputs
  • Contribute to KPI reporting, dashboards, and basic forecasting analysis
Business Partnering (Commerce focus)
  • Work closely with the Commerce and Central teams to support financial tracking and performance understanding as required
  • Assist in reviewing purchase orders and spend requests to ensure appropriate controls are followed
  • Build strong working relationships with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes for key cost areas
  • Assist in maintaining rolling forecasts and tracking performance against plan
  • Help ensure financial data is up to date and reflective of business activity
Controls, Governance & Process Improvement
  • Support adherence to financial controls and processes across spend and reporting
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records and audit trails
  • Contribute to improving financial processes and efficiencies over time
  • Provide support during audit processes, including basic reconciliations and data gathering
Requirements:
  • Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Placement year, internship, or some experience in a finance or commercial role
  • Strong motivation to study towards a professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good Excel and general computer skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Proactive, positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
