This is a senior management role that requires a deep understanding of CPB Strategies, the UK Regulatory and Compliance landscape and the broader Wealth Management industry. The role entails the leadership of the front office teams (Private Bankers, Investment Counsellors and Associate Bankers), partnership with product and various control partners, and subject to FCA approval, being the designated UK Senior Manager for Wealth for CBNA London and CEP UK.

The individual will work with EMEA’s other Market Executives, functional partners to ensure good coordination and close partnership to drive the CPB EMEA strategy including:

  • Delivering on financial goals and scorecard metrics (NNIA; CNR, iCNR, Wallet Growth)
  • Building a strong strategic partnership across other Citi Businesses (CCB, IB, Markets etc.,) and executing on the cross-business referral pipeline.     
  • Represent the UK Wealth Businesses in a number of governance forums, and provide appropriate oversight and escalation as part of the Senior Manager responsibilities

The role reports directly to the CPB EMEA Head (James Holder) with matrix reporting to the UK Citi Cluster and Banking Head (Tiina Lee).

Core Responsibilities & Leadership:

The Market Executive is responsible for spearheading the growth of the private banking business in the UK and Jersey region. This includes:

  • Implementing a regional strategy for UK and Jersey that aligns with the bank’s overarching objectives.
  • Focus on acquiring target market new ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients
  • Expanding and deepening existing relationships through a laser focus on NNIA growth
  • High-level responsibilities included full P&L oversight, people management, strategic planning, and day-to-day management of the Market.
  • Meeting the regulatory obligations as the UK Wealth Senior Manager, managing the delegation matrix and oversight of issues and escalations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry and direct competitors' products/services is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business.
  • Excellent communication skills required to influence a wide range of audiences.
  • The role involves both internal and external negotiations.
  • Driving One Citi relationships, partnerships and executing business outcomes is a critical part of this role.

Client Relationship Management & Risk Mitigation:

The Market Executive oversees the client portfolio, ensuring exceptional service and proactive engagement. This includes overseeing client onboarding, due diligence procedures, and ongoing relationship monitoring, all while adhering to regulatory requirements. Give client issues the highest level of priority.

 A critical part of the role is maintaining oversight of credit, investment, and operational risks within the regional market, acting as an escalation point for complex client issues.

Regulatory Compliance & Senior Manager Responsibilities:

The UK & Jersey Market Executive is identified as the Senior Manager for CBNA London and CEP UK, as part of the UK's Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) that was introduced in the UK in 2016.

Various Senior Manager obligations including around

Suitability – committee nomination, screening, on-going / annual certifications Remuneration Rules - implications of compensation Adherence to Conduct Rules – senior manager and individual conduct rules Prescribed set of regulatory required documents

The Senior Manager has overall responsibility but may show reasonable steps through the delegation of responsibilities to an appropriate person(s). They are responsible for overseeing the discharge of the delegated responsibility effectively, and the management through effective governance and oversight framework.

More broadly, appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the business, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Other Key responsibilities:

  • Recruit, select and develop staff with well-rounded skills and knowledge to ensure growth and development of target Market
  • Ensure team are well trained on Private Banking products and services and that the Team can effectively communicate the "Citi" value.
  • Build social and community involvement by becoming an active participant in local events and becoming a well-known, trusted, and respected professional within the community.
  • Position the Private Bank as the provider of choice for top UHNW Families in the UK
  • Develop proactive sales and marketing strategies, partner with Product and Marketing teams.
  • Actively assist bankers in assessing client needs and developing recommendations.
  • Highly satisfied client base, minimal customer attrition
  • Continuously identify ways to streamline sales processes to meet client needs. Continuously track sales performance.
  • Serve as strategic partner with Citigroup Seniors to determine the best way to execute the CPB strategic plan.
  • Ensure controls are in place to meet all audit requirements
  • Processes utilised are consistent with corporate compliance policies

Qualifications & Experience:

  • The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) and 15+ years of experience in financial services, including managing high-performing sales teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of investment management, derivative products, and experience managing a tiered client base are crucial.
  • A proven track record in sales and client acquisition is essential.
  • A track record of dealing with governance and regulatory issues at a senior level.
