Team Overview

The Data Development Consultant will act as a key resource of the Data Operations and Engineering team and is responsible for supporting Marketing Services products like MTA and MMM. They will be responsible for day to day support activities like fixing code issues within the big data pipeline and backend, analyzing data related issues, take up development task for data pipeline. This role will partner and collaborate with stakeholders across solution Architecture, Consulting Services, Product and Engineering teams. You will report to the Director of Data Development. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview and Core Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day activities and works on assigned tasks in order to facilitate and contribute to the successful completion and delivery of team projects and initiatives. 
  • Play a key role in end to end data onboarding and in creating a data pipeline for the end application.
  • In depth analysis of source data to provide insights for data mapping & business rules setup.
  • Develop, code & implement the data pipeline.
  • Make sure data onboarding at a individual client level is done successfully.
  • Works cross functionally with Product Managers, Solution Architect, Data Modeler, Consultancy Services to align and achieve team goals successfully.
  • Develop deep knowledge of in-house tools and applications to suggest improvements and assist Advisory Services and Solution Architects.
  • Determines how best to accomplish objectives, which are established at a higher level, working under limited supervision. 
  • Exercises independent judgment to solve problems.   

Required Knowledge and Experiences

·       Excellent SQL skills and in-depth understanding of relational databases.

·       Experience on distributed systems frameworks like Hadoop including hands on experience on HDFS, MapReduce, Google Cloud Platform etc.

·       Bachelor’s Degree, with 5+ years related IT experience in Big Data. 

·       Good knowledge of UNIX environments and exposure to shell scripting.

·       Working knowledge of large scale multi-node clusters with technologies like HDFS/ Big Query, Hive etc.

·       Knowledge of database design principles like OLAP, OLTP and ETL.

·       Experience in Python and Java will be an advantage.

Pay Scale Information:

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $72,300.00 - $105,000.00 annually. *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations. Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
