Job Description

The Clinical Educator is a qualified and experienced education professional who brings specialist expertise in learning, facilitation and workforce capability development, playing a key role in the design, delivery and continual enhancement of high-quality clinical training across HAAS.

The postholder will facilitate agreed elements of the HAAS New Entrant Training, continuing professional development programmes and wider workforce capability initiatives, working within the postholder’s professional remit. They will apply adult learning principles, inclusive practice and modern learning methodologies to translate complex clinical, operational, policy and legislative information into accessible learning that supports colleague confidence, competence and sustained practice.

Working collaboratively with Learning & Development colleagues, approved Functional Assessor trainers, clinical subject matter experts and operational leaders, they will support learner confidence and progression, contribute to the quality and consistency of training delivery through coaching, feedback and shared practice, and use learner feedback, performance measures and outcome data to drive continuous improvement.

  • Design, deliver and evaluate engaging classroom, virtual and blended clinical learning interventions across HAAS programmes.
  • Facilitate agreed elements of New Entrant Training, continuing professional development and wider capability programmes for PIP and/or WCA colleagues, working within the postholder’s professional remit.
  • Apply adult learning principles, inclusive practice and modern learning methodologies to strengthen learner engagement, knowledge transfer and practical application.
  • Translate complex clinical, operational, policy and legislative information into clear, accessible and effective learning content and activities.
  • Work collaboratively with Learning & Development colleagues, approved Functional Assessor trainers, clinical subject matter experts and operational leaders to ensure training remains accurate, current and aligned to business requirements.
  • Support learners through coaching, guidance and feedback that builds confidence, competence and sustained practice.
  • Contribute to the quality and consistency of training delivery through collaborative observations, coaching, feedback and shared practice 
  • activities, supporting colleagues across Learning & Development to continue strengthening training capability.
  • Review, maintain and improve learning materials, learner resources and delivery approaches, ensuring they are accessible and supportive of diverse learning needs, including neurodiversity.
  • Use learner feedback, performance measures and training outcome data to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and training documentation, while keeping knowledge of relevant healthcare practice, welfare assessment processes and organisational requirements up to date.
  • Contribute to learning needs analysis, wider Learning & Development activity and projects that improve learner experience, service readiness and continuous improvement.
  • Undertake ongoing professional development to maintain professional registration, educational competence, subject knowledge and understanding of relevant policy and legislative requirements.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Professional registration with a recognised healthcare regulatory body, e.g. NMC, HCPC, GMC, Social Work England or equivalent.
  • Clinical, healthcare or allied health professional background with relevant industry experience.
  • Certificate in Education, Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), CIPD qualification, coaching qualification, or similar Learning & Development qualification.
  • Background in Learning & Development, training, education or workforce development roles, including delivery of face-to-face, virtual and blended learning programmes.
  • Strong facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of delivering presentations, workshops, inductions, coaching sessions or group-based learning activities.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design and inclusive practice, including reasonable adjustments and support for neurodiversity.
  • Ability to translate complex clinical, operational, welfare assessment, policy, legislative or technical information into clear, accessible learning for varied audiences.
  • Proven ability to support learners through structured development programmes, coaching, feedback and learner-focused support.
  • Proven ability to support the quality, consistency and effectiveness of training delivery through observation, coaching, feedback, evaluation and continuous improvement activity.
  • Ability to evaluate learning effectiveness and use feedback, performance measures or outcome data to improve learning interventions.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders across clinical, operational and support functions.

Desirable Criteria

  • Level 5 CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management or Organisational Learning & Development, or equivalent Learning & Development qualification.
  • Background in delivering training, coaching, facilitation, mentoring, assessment or learner support within a regulated or multi-disciplinary service environment.
  • Involvement in supporting the implementation and embedding of change through learning, coaching and capability development activities.
  • Practical involvement in developing learning resources, training materials, facilitator guides or blended learning solutions.
  • Practical application of learner engagement methodologies to enhance participation, knowledge transfer and applied learning in programmes.

  • Experience in curriculum review, learning needs analysis or continuous improvement of learning programmes.
  • Familiarity with digital learning technologies, Learning Management Systems (LMS) or virtual learning platforms.

Ability to provide constructive, evidence-based feedback to colleagues from a range of professional backgrounds and levels of experience; line management experience would be advantageous.
