We design Spotify’s consumer experience—end to end, moment to moment, across every screen, platform, and partner integration. Our mission is to make listening feel effortless, personal, and joyful for billions of users around the world. That means turning complexity into clarity across hundreds of touchpoints—from our mobile and desktop apps to the smart speakers, TVs, cars, and integrations where Spotify shows up every day. If it touches a consumer, we shape it. We bring deep insight into human behavior, design, and technology to craft experiences that feel intuitive, expressive, and unmistakably Spotify.

Format Foundations is part of Spotify’s Core Experience Studio, focused on helping users connect more deeply with creators and their content. The team owns and evolves some of Spotify’s most highly trafficked experiences, including Artist, Album, Podcast, Episode, and Audiobook surfaces.

Alongside building user-facing experiences, the team develops mobile foundations, reusable components, and infrastructure that help teams across Spotify create consistent, high-quality experiences at scale. You’ll join a collaborative environment where engineers, designers, and product managers work closely together to shape the future of listening across music, podcasts, audiobooks, and emerging formats.

We’re looking for a mid-level mobile engineer who enjoys building polished user experiences, contributing to platform foundations, and exploring modern engineering workflows — including experimentation and AI-assisted development practices.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and evolve mobile experiences used by millions of Spotify users around the world.
  • Contribute to foundational mobile infrastructure and reusable platform components that support teams across Spotify.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, product managers, and cross-functional partners to deliver thoughtful user experiences.
  • Help shape future-facing experiences across music, podcasts, audiobooks, and emerging content formats.
  • Participate in prototyping and experimentation initiatives tied to new product ideas and interaction patterns.
  • Contribute to engineering quality, scalability, accessibility, and consistency across the Spotify app.
  • Explore and adopt modern development workflows, including AI-assisted tooling and experimentation where appropriate.
  • Improve developer experience and contribute to engineering best practices across the organization.

Who You Are

  • You have experience building mobile applications using Swift and Kotlin.
  • You know how to build reliable, scalable, and maintainable mobile features and components.
  • You care deeply about product quality, accessibility, and user experience.
  • You enjoy collaborating in cross-functional environments.
  • You are experienced working closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver impactful experiences.
  • You are curious, adaptable, and eager to learn new technologies and ways of working.
  • You have strong problem-solving skills and bring a thoughtful, growth-oriented approach to your work.
  • You’re excited by experimentation and building future-facing product experiences.
  • You are interested in how AI is shaping software development workflows and product innovation.
  • You have experience contributing to large-scale consumer-facing applications or platforms.

Where You’ll Be

  • This role is based in Stockholm or London.
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.

Spotify is an equal opportunity employer. You are welcome at Spotify for who you are, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or what’s playing in your headphones. Our platform is for everyone, and so is our workplace. The more voices we have represented and amplified in our business, the more we will all thrive, contribute, and be forward-thinking! So bring us your personal experience, your perspectives, and your background. It’s in our differences that we will find the power to keep revolutionizing the way the world listens.

At Spotify, we are passionate about inclusivity and making sure our entire recruitment process is accessible to everyone. We have ways to request reasonable accommodations during the interview process and help assist in what you need. If you need accommodations at any stage of the application or interview process, please let us know - we’re here to support you in any way we can.
