What you’ll be doing

Do you have the energy, curiosity and drive to win new clients while helping grow Lloyds Bank’s market share? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Director to join our Mid Corporate team covering London.

We operate under a sector-led model, focusing on:

  • Business and Professional Services

  • Manufacturing, Wholesale and Consumer

  • Technology, Media and Telecoms

  • Healthcare

You’ll play a central role in originating and converting new business opportunities, working with clients with turnovers of between £25m - £500m, with a particular focus on sourcing debt-led transactions and growing our balance sheet in a disciplined, targeted way. This will involve building strong relationships across the deal ecosystem, including Corporate Finance, private equity sponsors, debt advisers, and other key introducers, to generate a high-quality pipeline of opportunities.

This is a high-impact role within a dynamic team, offering the opportunity to shape our growth strategy, expand our franchise, and strengthen our position as a leading provider of debt solutions to the Mid Corporate market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively originate new-to-bank opportunities, with a focus on debt transactions, leveraging both direct client outreach and a strong network of introducers.

  • Work closely with Corporate Finance and other internal partners to gain early visibility on transactions and position Lloyds at the forefront of deal execution.

  • Build and maintain deep relationships with key business introducers, including private equity, debt advisers, accountants, and lawyers, to drive a sustainable pipeline.

  • Understand client strategies and funding requirements to structure compelling, competitive debt solutions.

  • Drive balance sheet growth through disciplined deployment of capital, increasing share of wallet with both new and existing clients.

  • Develop and execute sector-led origination strategies to increase revenue and market share.

  • Collaborate across Coverage, Credit, and Product teams to deliver a seamless client experience and successful outcomes.

  • Monitor market trends, transaction activity, and competitor positioning to inform origination strategy.

  • Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and structure to deliver strong client outcomes aligned with risk appetite and return objectives.

Why join us

We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone.

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of proven experience in business development or a similar role within corporate or commercial banking.

  • Deep understanding of the manufacturing, industrials, and wholesale sector alongside professional services.

  • Excellent credit and sector knowledge with the ability to quickly identify and understand complex problems and solutions to support.

  • Demonstrated expertise in analytical and critical thinking.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a place for you

Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities and we’re committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer Initiative.

We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns. As a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role with a disability, long-term health or neurodivergent condition through the Disability Confident Scheme.

We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers. Just let us know what you need.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

  • An annual performance-related bonus

  • Share schemes including free shares

  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping

  • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top

  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
