Own the full sales cycle for AI-native accounts across EMEA, from prospecting and technical discovery through closing and expansion. Sell directly to founders, CTOs, and ML leaders; scope workloads, run proofs of concept, and discuss GPUs, inference, containers, and model training. Build developer-community engagement, provide product feedback, and help establish scalable sales processes, pricing, and playbooks. The role requires a technical background, closing-sales experience, and five days per week in the office.

About Us:
AI needs a new infrastructure layer. We're building it at Modal.

Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now.

Our customers include category-defining companies like Ramp, Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale.

We've passed $1B in annualized run rate, up 15x from a year ago. In October 2026 we raised a $750M Series D led by Accel at a $15.75B valuation.

Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g.,Seaborn,Luigi), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience.

The Role:

We’re hiring an Account Executive to win and grow Modal’s relationships with AI-native companies: the startups and scale-ups building their products on models from day one. These teams move fast, so our sales cycle does too. Deals often move forward from the very first call, and you’ll usually be talking directly with the founder or technical leader who owns the budget.

You’ll own the full cycle, from sourcing to close to expansion, and you’ll partner closely with our founders, engineering, and product teams. You’ll also help build Modal’s presence in the developer community, because in this market, the best pipeline comes from engineers who already love the product.

The ideal candidate has an engineering background, has worked as a solutions architect or in a similar technical role, and has since moved into selling. You’re as comfortable debugging a cold-start issue with an ML engineer as you are negotiating terms with a CEO.

What You’ll Do:
  • Own a book of AI-native accounts and close new business quickly, often moving from first call to signed deal in weeks rather than quarters.

  • Sell directly to founders, CTOs, and heads of ML who define the ideal customer and hold the budget from day one.

  • Get hands-on in technical conversations: scope workloads, set up quick proofs of concept, and show customers how Modal fits into their stack.

  • Spot expansion early and help fast-growing customers scale their inference, training, and sandbox workloads as their usage takes off.

  • Help build and engage Modal’s developer community through events, meetups, open-source channels, and word of mouth.

  • Bring sharp, structured customer feedback to our product and engineering teams to shape the roadmap.

  • Help define how Modal sells to AI-native companies, including the playbooks, pricing motions, and processes we’ll scale as the team grows.

Requirements:
  • An engineering background, followed by time as a solutions architect, sales engineer, or similar customer-facing technical role, and now experience as a closing seller.

  • Current or recent experience at an AI-native company, ideally selling infrastructure, ML/AI, or developer tools.

  • A track record of selling directly to founders and technical leaders and closing deals quickly in a high-velocity sales cycle.

  • Experience building or engaging a developer community, or a clear point of view on how community drives pipeline.

  • Enough technical depth to go deep on GPUs, inference, containers, and model training with engineers, without needing a sales engineer in the room.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Comfort in a fast-moving, early-stage environment and excitement about building processes from the ground up.

  • Ability to work in person from our office 5 days a week.
