About the role:

We are looking for a Writer with an eye for detail and expert knowledge of the English language to write content for a diverse mix of form factors. A successful candidate understands what kind of writing is appropriate for business executives and strives to provide exceptional, informative and engaging content to clients.

Gartner Writers perform a variety of duties. They write new content, take existing content and condense it to accommodate various forms of consumption, revise content for clarity, format documents, fact check, and research current and noteworthy topics for Gartner clients. They collaborate with multiple parties to craft written research, as well as working independently to drive projects on their own, all while ensuring that time-sensitive deliverables meet deadlines.

What you will do:

  • Work within Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights (BTI) group to plan and write must-have research.

  • Write and create content according to well-defined processes and standards. Tasks include gathering materials; drafting documents or heavily rewriting analysts' work based off of notes, presentations and other materials; interviewing analysts; orchestrating peer, vendor and management reviews, and responding to comments; checking facts, dates and statistics for accuracy; project managing all assignments through to completion; and coordinating with editors, designers and other parties to ensure the integrity of published documents.

  • Write with the reader in mind; we’re after substantive simplicity.

  • Review and revise drafts for quality and client value, incorporating stakeholder feedback.

  • Utilize approved AI tools to support and accelerate your writing.

  • Manage and progress work through Gartner's content management system, ensuring timely progress against key milestones.

  • Work with your writing management team and aligned BTI practice to effectively prioritize the most impactful projects, including (but not limited to) Magic Quadrants and associated Critical Capabilities research.

  • Ensure that draft research follows Gartner’s editorial style, standards and format, with a focus on client utility, brevity and concision.

  • Provide input for companywide writing and editing standards and processes.

  • Share and solve cross-departmental challenges and apply best practices related to writing and publishing at Gartner.

  • Verify facts, dates and statistics using standard reference sources.

  • Work with other teams and stakeholders to improve the overall workflow process, procedures and systems.

  • Coach subject matter experts on writing best practices, storytelling and publishing process requirements.

  • Engage in continuous training to improve writing skills and business acumen.

What you will need:

  • Three or more years' writing experience, preferably with fact-based, business content in a busy environment with strict deadlines.

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Liberal Arts, Technical Writing, or related field.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to learn and understand new concepts quickly.

  • Ability to collaborate on draft content with subject matter experts and build relationships with key (often senior) stakeholders.

  • Ability to distill meaning from graphics and numerical data.

  • Ability to manage diverse projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style.
