Job Details

Pay: £30,000 - £35,000 p/a

Full time 37.5hours, Monday to Friday

Location: Hybrid - Working from any of our main locations (Redditch, Denton or Sheffield)

Role Purpose

Working as part of The Bid Team, the Bid Writer will contribute to the success of the business through the timely and quality completion of procurement-led new business opportunities.

The role is responsible for working collaboratively as a member of the Bid Team to ensure all bids are completed to the highest possible standard and within required deadlines, liaising with colleagues across the business to develop and maintain a library of quality content and working from provided feedback to identify opportunities for continual improvement.

Key Accountabilities and Main Responsibilities

• Prepare information for sharing with key stakeholders to determine bid qualification leading to a “bid/no-bid” decision.

• Read bid documentation to identify key information to support in the preparation of a winning bid and alert stakeholders to non-standard service requirements.

• Organise and attend bid preparation meetings with related personnel to identify win themes, key background information, risks and opportunities ahead of bid completion.

• Write and edit bids, proposals, expressions of interest, presentations, and prequalification questionnaires to the specification required.

• Liaise with stakeholders across a range of functions, roles and levels to ensure bid information is correct, current, and demonstrative of the best our business can offer.

• Manage and complete bid responses to strict deadlines, ensuring submissions are accurate, compliant and of consistently high quality.

• Identify and collate required evidence and supporting documentation.

• Upload tenders to portals and/or prepare them for dispatch, ensuring complete and correct submissions within required deadlines.

• Review tender feedback and support with communicating decisions to the wider business, utilising feedback to identify areas for continual improvement and implementing improvements in collaboration with the bid team.

• Maintain tender libraries, including case studies, testimonials and “model answers” to common tender questions and support the collation of these.

• Stay current with service innovations and proof points around their impact to develop new content and changes to existing to keep bid materials fresh and relevant.

Technical Competencies

• Proven experience in bid writing, preferably in a central or local government context.

• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Experience of working within brand, tone-of-voice and document control requirements.

• Strong analytical reading skills to identify key information, requirements and potential win themes.

• Excellent standard of written English, ability to write creatively while remaining within the constraints of a specification.

• High attention to detail, ability to work collaboratively to edit and improve written documentation.

• Passionate about continuous improvement, committed to driving standards above and beyond expected standards.

• Commercially aware with a clear understanding of how high-quality bids contribute to business growth

• Collaborative and inclusive working style.

Desirable But Not Essential

• APMP or other Bid/Proposal qualifications

• Experience of producing content in relation to social value, safeguarding, quality mobilisation and service delivery.

• Familiarity with procurement processes including SQs, ITTs and other tender procedures.
