Lead data migration, validation, and optimisation for Workday Financials implementations. Design and use Workday load tools, map and transform financial data, develop ETL and reconciliation processes, validate loads, support tenant migrations, engage stakeholders, and contribute to training and knowledge sharing.
Cognizant Workday Practice is seeking a Principal Data Consultant with experience in Workday Financials. As a Principal Data Consultant, you will guide clients through the transformation, implementation, and operation phases of a Workday Financials implementation, with a focus on data migration, validation, and optimisation.
This role is best suited for self-starters eager to work across a variety of clients and engage in all phases of Workday system implementations. You will join a collaborative, high-performing team within a dynamic and fast-paced transformation consulting practice.
Responsibilities:- Become a Workday Financials and Data expert, with knowledge of design, configuration, testing, and implementation.
- Partner closely with project teams and clients to deliver high-quality outcomes across all project phases.
- Utilize Workday tools such as iLoad, EIB, Object Transporter, Advanced Load, and Migration Recipe to support tenant-to-tenant migrations.
- Design and develop data tracking, reconciliation, and monitoring tools to support finance data integrity and reporting.
- Map and convert data sources into data conversion templates, ensuring alignment with Workday Financials structures.
- Guide clients through data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and loading, ensuring accuracy and auditability of financial data.
- Support data migration activities, including loading financial data, moving configurations, and aligning with business processes and security models.
- Develop ETL processes and data transformation logic to normalise and improve client finance data.
- Validate and reconcile financial data loaded into Workday, ensuring consistency with source systems.
- Engage regularly with clients throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring a smooth transition from legacy systems to Workday Financials.
- Manage multiple tasks with limited direction while keeping stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and issues.
- Participate in training and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives to continuously develop expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, MIS, Finance, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of Workday Financials experience
- Experience with financial data domains, including General Ledger, transactions, and financial reporting structures.
- Experience with data conversion, data migration, and data loading tools within ERP environments is essential
- Exposure to Workday Prism Analytics and reporting (highly desirable).
- Strong experience with Excel and data manipulation.
- Working knowledge of SQL or other data querying tools preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Eligibility for SC Clearance (must have resided in the UK for the last five years and have the right to work in the UK).
