Do you have a keen interest in aerodynamics? Are you ready to organise complex technical activities, influence high-profile projects across their full lifecycle, and drive how experimental data fuses with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and flight testing? If so, the Wind Tunnel Technology team wants to hear from you.

The Wind Tunnel Technology team has the privilege of leading all wind tunnel testing activities for Airbus Commercial, running projects at internal facilities in Filton and Bremen, and at other tunnel facilities worldwide, as well as working with external partners. We have a pioneering spirit, and are immensely proud of the products we help to design.

As a Wind Tunnel Test Engineer, you will combine project leadership skills, technical acumen and a mindset for quality to lead and drive wind tunnel tests to successful completion. You will be based at the Filton Low-Speed Wind Tunnel, which has the unique legacy of having tested every aircraft developed on our site, from Concorde to the latest A350 XWB.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

• Initiate and lead wind tunnel test campaigns at the Filton facility and at external facilities worldwide
• Synthesise technical requirements to create test plans, project costings, and formal documentation (Specifications, Programmes, and Memoranda)
• Coordinate technical specialists and liaise directly with external wind tunnel facility operators to ensure safe and successful test execution
• Validate aerodynamic results throughout the testing process and collaborate seamlessly within our digital environment and wider Aerodynamics team

You must also be willing to travel within and outside the UK, supporting periods of intensive testing at external wind tunnel facilities.

ABOUT YOU

• A degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent professional background in applied aerodynamics
• Demonstrable technical knowledge of wind tunnel testing methodologies, experimental hardware, and associated data correction techniques
• Experience in technical project management, with an ability to lead teams and manage stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills and digital proficiency
