EMEA Technology, Media & Telecoms Credit Risk team within Wholesale Credit Risk is covering clients for the Commercial & Investment Bank, Commercial Banking and Innovation Economy clients in the Technology, Media & Telecoms sectors.
As an Executive Director in the Technology, Media & Telecoms Team within Wholesale Credit Risk EMEA , you will lead in depth-due diligence of Innovation Economy clients, acting as a sound board and thought leader for risk appetite and exposure in this market. This role requires strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, excellent project management skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in a high-pressure environment. You will work closely with business partners across the region including Coverage (Client, Sponsor and Industry), Debt Solutions, Debt Finance Group, Acquisition and Leveraged Finance, Asset Based Lending, Capital Markets, M&A, Treasury Services and Trade Finance.
Job responsibilities

  • Lead the due diligence, credit analysis and financial modelling of credit counterparties, transactions & complex financing structures; review credit memos and make decisions on appropriate structure, risk appetite and grading
  • Steer deal processes and teams (comprised of more junior credit colleagues as well as senior business partners) to ensure that transactions are structured appropriately
  • Be responsible for recommending and approving the extension of credit across a variety of products provided by JPM, with the expectation of escalating effectively and early to the extent the transaction falls outside of your personal approval authority
  • Think and act strategically, anticipating emerging issues and then driving appropriate actions that mitigate the impact to the organisation
  • Liaise with other internal departments and external Counsel to successfully negotiate and execute the relevant legal documentation (IE/LF LMA, ISDA & CSA)
  • Build relationships with key internal & external stakeholders at a senior level and foster team knowledge; coaching & training members of the team on both technical and professional skills
  • Manage credit risk portfolio including monitoring of credit ratings, sector trends and client performance


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Sound credit skills and judgment, with a proactive and flexible approach to coordinating the credit process and identifying risks
  • First rate project management skills and demonstrable end to end ownership of work/projects
  • Be able to establish credibility and trust with clients, internal business partners, product specialists and credit officers, and to partner with them effectively
  • Proven people management, coaching and development abilities
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Self-starting, result-driven, multi-tasking, risk-reward mindset and adaptable to change given the dynamic nature and timing of workflow


Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Previous experience as a Senior Credit Officer
  • Knowledge of the Innovation Economy and developing trends in the UK and European VC market
  • Familiarity with venture lending structures (venture debt, recurring revenue lines, ABL) and managing/monitoring credit exposure for VC/PE backed clients
