This role can either be based in London or Madrid, depending on where you are currently based.

If you have performed a similar role previously, this could be the perfect opportunity to develop your career in a high-profile team.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Reviewing and negotiating leveraged finance documentation, including term sheets, commitment letters, mandate letters, credit agreements, intercreditor agreements and fee letters

  • Liaising closely with the Leveraged Finance Transaction Advisory team and providing input on documentation issues, legal risk and compliance with the Bank’s internal policies and standards

  • Assisting with deal execution from mandate through closing, including conditions precedent

  • Coordinating closely with internal stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions as well as liaising with external counsel

  • Advising other product teams on how to interpret and navigate leveraged finance documentation

  • Reviewing and negotiating ancillary documents including NDAs, release and reliance letters, amendments and waivers

  • Monitoring legal developments and market trends in the leveraged finance market

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • UK, US or European Qualified Lawyer with at least 4 years’ post qualification experience in a reputable law firm that is used to transacting large cap leveraged finance deals

  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of leverage finance transactions and documentation

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven and cross border environment

  • Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • In-house secondment experience

  • Fluency in Spanish or other European languages

  • Good analytical skills and commercial acumen

  • A highly adaptable, proactive and collaborative approach with demonstrable willingness to learn and be involved in a wide variety of work

What else you need to know:

This role can be either based at our offices in Triton Square, London or Boadilla del Monte, Madrid.

We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles).

As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs.

  • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.

  • We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.

  • 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.

  • Company funded individual private medical insurance.

  • Voluntary healthcare benefits at discounted rates such as private medical insurance for your family, dental insurance, and health assessments.
