In this role, you will gain exposure to a diverse portfolio of private market investments across a range of asset classes and strategies. You will work closely with Finance colleagues in London and Pune, Fund Operations, senior management and external auditors. You will also help shape the future operating model of the Investments team through automation, reporting enhancements, governance improvements and data-led process transformation.’

Summary of our opportunity

The Group Finance – Investments Manager is a key member of the Balance Sheet Investments team within Group Finance.

The team is responsible for the financial control, valuation governance, reporting and oversight of ICG's balance sheet investments, including investments in ICG-managed funds, co-investments, direct investments and other financial assets.

You will be accountable for the delivery of core investment accounting and control activities, whilst supporting valuation governance processes, external reporting requirements and strategic transformation initiatives. The role offers a combination of technical accounting, valuation oversight, stakeholder management and project delivery experience.

You will develop expertise across investment accounting, valuation governance, financial reporting, process improvement and finance transformation while helping to shape the future development of a key area of Group Finance.

Primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):

Investment Accounting and Financial Control

  • Owning financial control activities for designated balance sheet investment portfolios.
  • Ensuring investment transactions, income recognition, valuations and related balances are recorded completely, accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Reviewing monthly substantiation, reconciliation and control activities.
  • Delivering monthly and quarterly management information and supporting analysis.
  • Supporting the production of annual and interim financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Maintaining high-quality process documentation, controls and supporting evidence.
  • Supporting audit activity and acting as a primary contact for external auditors in areas of responsibility.

Valuation Governance and Oversight

  • Reviewing valuation submissions and supporting information.
  • Performing independent analysis and challenge of valuation movements and assumptions.
  • Supporting Group Valuation Committee deliverables, including valuation dashboards, investment analytics and other materials.

Reporting and Governance

  • Monitoring key risks, issues and control exceptions and ensuring appropriate escalation.
  • Supporting implementation of improvements to governance frameworks and control environments.

What you will support:

Finance Transformation and Strategic Initiatives

You will have an active role in delivering priorities across the Balance Sheet Investments and wider Group Finance functions including:

  • Dashboard reporting and management information development.
  • Data quality and control improvements.
  • Process automation and efficiency programmes.

Team and Stakeholder Development

  • Building strong partnerships within Group Finance and across Fund Operations, Shareholder Relations, Tax, and Treasury.
  • Supporting knowledge sharing and development across teams in London and Pune.
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability.

Key Requirements/ Qualifications

You will have demonstrable experience of: 

Essential

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA or equivalent).
  • Relevant experience in Financial Control, Financial Reporting, Investment Accounting or Audit.
  • Experience working within private markets, alternative asset management, financial services or similar complex investment environments.
  • Understanding of financial control frameworks and reporting disciplines.
  • Experience analysing complex financial information and communicating conclusions clearly.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis capabilities.

Desirable

  • Experience auditing or controlling private market investments.
  • Knowledge of IFRS fair value measurement requirements.
  • Exposure to listed group reporting environments.
  • Experience delivering process improvement, automation or finance transformation projects.
  • Awareness of investment structures across private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate or secondaries strategies.
