Job Description

Smiths Detection is a global leader in threat detection and security screening technologies, helping protect people and infrastructure around the world. We are seeking an experienced Urban Account Manager to drive growth across our Urban market sector throughout Northern Europe.

This is a customer-facing commercial role focused on developing existing business, strengthening partner relationships, and identifying new opportunities within law enforcement, corrections, critical infrastructure, government, public sector, and security markets.

The Opportunity

As the Urban Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of customers, distributors, and partners across Northern Europe. You will drive revenue growth through proactive account management, lifecycle sales, upgrades, services, and expansion opportunities across the installed base.

Working closely with the wider sales organisation, you will become a trusted commercial partner to customers while supporting the achievement of order intake, revenue, and margin targets.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage relationships with customers, distributors, resellers, and business partners across the Urban sector.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for day-to-day customer and partner activities.
  • Develop and execute account growth plans for existing customers.
  • Identify opportunities for upgrades, replacements, accessories, services, and additional equipment sales.
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline and accurate forecast.
  • Follow up quotations and proposals to maximise conversion rates.
  • Support customer presentations, product demonstrations, industry events, and partner engagements.
  • Work collaboratively with Service, Operations, Supply Chain, and Product teams to ensure excellent customer support.
  • Monitor market activity, procurement programmes, and competitor developments.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and sales reporting.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in account management, sales, business development, or customer-facing commercial roles within Security technology, screening, detection, or public safety solutions.
    • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
    • Experience managing customer portfolios and driving revenue growth.
    • Ability to identify commercial opportunities and convert them into sales.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
    • Experience using CRM and sales management tools.

    Desirable Experience

    • Public sector, government, law enforcement, or corrections markets.
    • Distributor and channel partner management.
    • Critical infrastructure or physical security environments.
    • Understanding of public procurement and tendering processes.
