Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) is recruiting for a permanent Underwriting Assistant to join our Marine & Energy team in London. Reporting to the Departmental Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the underwriting and reinsurance operations of the department, ensuring business is processed accurately and efficiently whilst helping the team deliver profitable growth. You will work closely with Underwriters, Brokers and other internal stakeholders to maintain high standards of service, data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Marine & Energy team with underwriting and reinsurance activities across the department's portfolio.
• Assisting Underwriters in accordance with agreed underwriting strategies, business plans, risk appetites and departmental guidelines.
• Accurately recording and maintaining underwriting data to ensure risks can be effectively monitored, reviewed and reported on.
• Ensuring underwriting activities are conducted in line with Lloyd's, PRA and FCA requirements, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and compliance.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with brokers, intermediaries, agents and business partners to support the department's objectives.
• Supporting the provision of timely and accurate management information and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Monitoring adherence to underwriting guidelines, including line size and aggregate exposure controls.
• Ensuring customer outcomes remain at the forefront of all activities and that customers are treated fairly at all times.
• Supporting compliance with financial crime, sanctions, anti-money laundering and anti-bribery requirements.
• Undertaking additional underwriting, portfolio management and administrative activities as required by the Marine & Energy management team.

What we're looking for:

• Progress towards ACII qualifications or a willingness to commence professional insurance studies.
• An understanding of insurance regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Awareness of industry trends and developments within the insurance market.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience within the London Insurance Market would be advantageous.
• Previous exposure to underwriting support activities would be beneficial.
