Job summary

To assist the Underwriters in all aspects of underwriting and management of the Political Risk and Credit portfolio as well providing support to the team in preparation and analysis of financial models, management information reports and data analysis and carrying out some regular administrative tasks.

Main duties
  • Assist Underwriters in negotiation and indication of renewals and new business

  • Agreement of pre-agreed endorsements and policy amendments on behalf of Underwriters

  • Daily correspondence with brokers, including attending broker meetings and providing feedback to the team

  • Participate in preparation of special projects, including account analysis and review of key statistics for management reports

  • Use of account management tools (PowerBI, Charisma, Sequel etc) and coordination with Risk and Exposure Management and Actuarial teams to fulfil data requests from management and/or team

  • Ensure underwriting systems are properly updated and risks are accurately recorded

  • Assist Underwriters in the office, online and in meetings, including taking notes in team and divisional meetings

  • Prepare and present to others in the team specific account analysis, sector or topic research and country and claims reviews

  • Complete financial models for own and Underwriters’ review and assist in preparation of sign-off requests

  • Liaise with Central Operations Department and assist in quality checking of policy administration

  • Liaise with Claims Department and assist Underwriters with potential loss and recovery reporting and management

  • Assist with compilation of statistics for annual Reinsurance Report

  • Manage the relationships with Customers, Agents and Service Providers:

  • Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers’ satisfaction;
  • Foster positive relationships with Customers and attain an understanding of their needs;
  • Ensure that Customer Complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate; and,
  • Ensure that the principles of Treating Customers Fairly are upheld by Agents and Service Providers
Relevant experience
  • Experience within insurance sector as underwriter or broker

Technical skills
  • Microsoft Office

  • Word  

  • Excel – minimum Intermediate

Education & Experience
  • 5 GCSE’s English and Maths grade 6 / C or above (or equivalent)

  • 3 ‘A’ Level passes grade B or above (or equivalent)
