UKVI Compliance & Administrative Review Officer will oversee visa refusal case management, administrative reviews, and UKVI compliance activities in line with the Student Route UKVI regulations, and others as required, and in relation to international students by leading the development, application and maintenance of Points Based Immigration systems whilst working with stakeholders to uphold compliance across the College.
The candidate will have primary responsibility of supporting applicants and students with immigration matters and ensuring full compliance with UKVI regulations. You will also need to monitor performance against the UKVI Basic Compliance Assessment and other key measures and to provide management reports detailing current risks and opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience dealing with Student Route visa refusals, Administrative Reviews, UKVI compliance requirements, and immigration casework. A legal or immigration advisory background is highly desirable. Main Duties and Responsibilities
Key areas of responsibility will include:
  • Review Student Route visa refusals and assess eligibility for Administrative Review.
  • Analyse refusal notices and identify case-specific errors in UKVI decision-making.
  • Prepare and submit Administrative Review applications and supporting representations.
  • Draft detailed case summaries, evidence bundles and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor Administrative Review outcomes and maintain accurate case records.
  • Liaise with applicants, students, agents, legal representatives, and UKVI where appropriate.
  • Provide advice on refusal trends and preventative measures.
  • Support complex immigration cases and provide guidance.
  • Assist in preparing evidence and documentation for immigration-related matters.
  • Keep up to date with changes to immigration legislation, policy, and sponsor guidance, and keep the College and teams up to date with relevant changes.
  • Support the CCO and HoD in managing all aspects of Home Office compliance to ensure retention of the College’s Student Visa licence.
  • Act as SMS User for the Student Visa licences on the UKVI Sponsor Management System.  
  • Maintain the College’s procedural documents pertaining to visa checks, expiring visas, withdrawals from study, changes to study plans, visa refusals and Student Visa reporting.
  • Maintain and update the visa related material of the College’s website.
  • Provide guidance to students with visa applications via email and individual meetings, including checking of the final application prior to submission.
  • Assist the CCO and HoD, and be responsible for all aspects of the preparation, coordination, liaison and organisation with UKVI and the College over compliance visits.
  • Work under the direction of the CCO and HoD to manage the domestic and international students.
  • Disseminate relevant information on UKVI compliance issues and relevant changes to colleagues around the College in a timely manner.
  • Pro-actively review and recommend appropriate modifications to the Regent College policy to ensure that all operational processes and procedures used throughout the institution follow the relevant UKVI legislation and guidelines.
  • Carry out regular internal compliance audits.
  • Provide advice and training to staff and students in matters relating to UKVI compliance, Student Visa Sponsor responsibilities and relevant College policies and procedures, when applicable.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to Regent College procedures and policies to adhere to compliance.
  • Maintain management information on enquiries using the Customer Relation Management (CRM) student and SMS (Sponsor Management System).
  • Assess the consistency and credibility of responses given by applicants.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in all aspects of the role.

  • Educated to degree level or relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of immigration compliance or experience working in a compliance setting.
  • Experience and knowledge of Student Route visa compliance, visa refusals and administrative reviews.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and strong critical thinking and organisation skills.
  • Ability to work with speed and accuracy.
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Word, Excel and CRM systems.
  • Commitment to, and responsibility for, meeting strict deadlines.
  • Able to build good working relationships across all levels with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Desirable
 
  • Experience of working in the Higher Education sector.
  • Competent user of the SMS UKVI reporting system.
  • Understanding of other immigration rules, regulations and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience of monitoring and reporting data.
  • Line management experience.
  • Proficiency in using interview techniques and tools.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Multilingual skills are an advantage and desirable, but not essential.
