The purpose of this role is to plan, execute & lead projects on behalf of Central Transport Organisation (CTO) within Alliance Healthcare while managing the governance, to agreed budgets and timelines. This includes managing resources and working closely and coordinating teams to deliver Transport based projects while enhancing the brand and ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service via both internal and external partnerships.
This role is Field based and will be a mix of working remotely from home and travelling to our sites across the UK (car provided).
Principle Accountabilities:
1. PMO-Lite:
Takes an active role within the CTO PMO-Lite, enabling control of Concept management and resource control and management, enabling concepts to be managed, sized, impact assessed and weighted accordingly in order that prioritization and associated reporting/display can be achieved.
2. Requirement Definition & Management:
Facilitates scoping and business priority-setting for change initiatives of medium size and complexity. Contributes to selection of the most appropriate means of representing business requirements in the context of a specific change initiative, ensuring traceability back to source. Discovers and analyses requirements for fitness for purpose as well as adherence to business objectives and consistency, challenging positively as appropriate. Obtains formal agreement by stakeholders and recipients to scope and requirements and establishes a base-line on which delivery of a solution can commence. Manages requests for and the application of changes to base-lined requirements. Identifies the impact on business requirements of interim (e.g. migration) scenarios as well as the required end position along with adequate lessons learnt definition and review for closures.
3. Project Management:
Takes full responsibility for the definition, documentation and satisfactory completion of small to medium-scale projects (typically lasting 6-12 months) with direct business impact, teams of 3-10 and firm deadlines. Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project. Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and provides regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate. Ensures Quality reviews occur on schedule. Manages the change control procedure, and ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off.
4. Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Develops and maintains one or more defined communication channels and/or stakeholder groups, acting as a single point of contact. Gathers information from the customer to understand their needs (demand & expectation management) and detailed requirements. Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders, using feedback to assess and promote understanding of need for future changes in services, products and systems. Agrees changes to be made and the planning and implementation of change. Maintains contact with the customer and stakeholders throughout to ensure satisfaction. Captures and shares technical and business information.
5. Change Management:
Assesses, analyses, develops, documents and implements changes based on approved requests for change.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proficient in Project Management: principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation using governance.
  • Strong planning and communication and confident presentation skills.
  • A genuine interest and passion for the environmental agenda.
  • Proficient in project quality management and risk management Methods and techniques.
  • Experienced in Project Management tools: MS project and on-line toolsets.
  • Proficient in project planning and control techniques: use of defined project governance, product/work breakdown structures and critical path analysis.
  • Demonstrate ability to embrace change and resilience in an environment of continuous improvement.
  • PC literate across main Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • UK Driving licence and willingness to regularly travel across sites throughout the UK (occasional overnight stays).


Desirable Requirements:

  • Ideally educated to A-Level standard with PMP qualifications in PM i.e. PRINCE-2, APM etc
  • Experience within the operational logistics sector(s) or in a sustainability focused company.
  • Experience of managing multi-site teams
  • Experience of working on projects including leading change & programme delivery.
  • Experience in managing multiple cross-functional stakeholders.
  • International/National CPC advantageous but not essential
