Job Description

We are currently seeking a Transport Planner to join our Transport team at our Harworth site on a full time permanent basis!

Salary: £31,666 per annum.

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm.

As a Transport Planner you will oversee the day to day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a busy transport department, able to deal with day to day challenges and provide cost effective solutions to the customer. 

Key Duties of a Transport Planner:

  • Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
  • Planning daily workload for a fleet: vehicles based on and off site.
  • Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax and email from our customers, sub-contract hauliers and warehousing sites. 
  • Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
  • Maintaining, creating and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
  • Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that arise.
  • Support the fleet and driver training team as and when required.
  • Complete pre and post de-brief for all driver shifts.
  • Deliver effective, professional and timely internal and external communications.

Qualifications

  • Be able to demonstrate a high level of transport planning expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Have excellent problem solving, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Be able to make decisions under pressure, and to a tight timescale.
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
  • Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
  • Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements to benefit both the Company and our customer.
  • Be a highly motivated individual able to work as part of a small friendly team, and under own initiative.
  • Knowledge of SAP, BPCS and Road Runner would be advantageous.
