About the role

A new and exciting position as Transitions Manager at Workman, responsible for leading the strategic and operational management of transitions in and out of the firm’s managed portfolio.

This role requires a proactive leader with market-leading expertise in both on-boarding and off-boarding individual properties and portfolios.

This is a unique opportunity to build and then lead an in-house transitions team at Workman, shaping the future of transitions management within the business.

What matters most in this role

  • Ability to plan, structure, and deliver transitions from start to finish.
  • Managing multiple on-boarding and off-boarding projects simultaneously.
  • Accuracy in reviewing leases, contracts, financials, compliance docs.
  • Spotting gaps, inconsistencies, or risks.
  • Ensuring correct data migration into systems.
  • Confident working with clients, owners, internal teams, and vendors.
  • Ability to manage expectations and difficult conversations.

Duties and responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, develop, and lead an in-house transitions team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance oversight.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and procedures for Property Managers ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills.

Operational & Compliance Management

  • Ownership, regular review and continual improvement of Workman’s on-boarding & off-boarding procedures and handover checklist.
  • Providing training and guidance on on-boarding & off-boarding procedures.

Client Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients during on-boarding and off-boarding processes, fostering strong relationships and ensuring their objectives are met.
  • Handle escalated issues with professionalism and efficiency.

Communication & Organisation

  • The ability to coordinate teams from across the business including Property Management, Client Accounting, Data Input, Procurement and Heath & Safety.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Project Management

  • Project manage key transitions with the expectation that the role and breadth of support expands as the transitions team grows.
  • The ability to multi-task and manage major transitions in and out simultaneously.

Performance Management

  • Establishing KPIs for on-boarding and off-boarding whilst monitoring and reporting on our performance against them.
  • Understanding key requirements under Sale Agreements whilst monitoring and reporting on performance against them.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Creating and maintaining a log of all transitions and any  issues / inefficiencies identified, to ensure continual improvement of the firm’s on-boarding & off-boarding procedures.
  • Leverage technology and best practices to enhance service delivery.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to inform strategic decisions.

Business Development

  • The ability to cross-sell and introduce other Workman service lines.
  • Assisting in responding to RFP questions relating to mobilisation / transition management.

What we expect from you

  • Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in commercial property management, ideally within a commercial property consultancy, or similar environment.
  • Experience managing and leading significant property and portfolio transitions in and out of management.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing portfolios.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Familiarity with property management software and other digital platforms.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. RICS) is highly desirable.
  • Some travel to the managed portfolio across the UK may be required and travel expenses will be covered.
