What’s the role about?

As our Trainee Product Developer, you’ll support the Product Development team across the full product development journey, helping to bring Reiss collections to life while building your knowledge of sourcing, suppliers, costing and product development. Working closely with Design and our supplier base, you’ll help manage development activity across fabrics, yarns, prints and garments, ensuring samples, information and critical path updates are managed accurately and on time.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll develop your understanding of the product lifecycle, from initial tech packs and costing through to samples and seasonal buy meetings. You’ll also have the opportunity to build strong supplier relationships and develop your knowledge of sustainable product development.

Who you are

  • You’ll have a genuine interest in fashion product development, with some experience or understanding of product, garment, fabric or supplier processes.
  • Highly organised and detail-focused, with the ability to keep trackers, systems and product information accurate and up to date.
  • Proactive and persistent, with the confidence to follow up with suppliers and internal teams to keep development moving.
  • A clear and confident communicator who can build positive relationships with suppliers and work effectively with Design, Product, Buying, Merchandising and Technical teams.
  • Commercially aware, with an interest in understanding costing, margin and how product decisions can impact price, quality and delivery.
  • Keen to learn and develop, with a collaborative approach and the ability to take ownership of tasks while supporting the wider Product Development team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the Product Development team with the sourcing and development of fabrics, yarns, prints and garments, including cross-sourcing key fabrics and researching new options.
  • Sending tech packs, samples and development information to suppliers, following up on costings and supporting the development of new supplier routes.
  • Supporting Product Developers with costing activity, including chasing detailed breakdowns and identifying opportunities to improve product and margin.
  • Managing product development trackers and Vision, ensuring costings, retail selling prices, tech packs, sample dates and other key information are accurate and up to date.
  • Supporting the critical path by attending weekly progress meetings, following up on actions and ensuring development remains on track for seasonal deadlines.
  • Managing the sample process by chasing proto samples, maintaining sample due dates, preparing priority lists for suppliers and logging samples as they arrive.
  • Working closely with Design and Product Development to coordinate tech pack handovers, resolve development queries and prepare samples for seasonal buy meetings.
  • Supporting Sustainability and wider Product teams with sustainable product development, while helping to maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure product is delivered to the required quality, margin and deadlines.
