This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong technical foundation and a passion for cyber threat research and data science. You'll investigate emerging threats, uncover insights from complex datasets, and help shape how we detect and respond to evolving attacker techniques.

This position follows a hybrid working model, with a minimum of 2 days per week spent in either our Cambridge or London office.

  • Presenting research findings internally and externally, including at conferences and industry events.

  • Developing and refining threat detections based on research outcomes.

  • Using data visualisation and analytical techniques to support investigations and communicate findings effectively.

  • Collaborating with security researchers, analysts, and product teams to strengthen Darktrace's threat intelligence capabilities.

What experience do I need?

We're looking for someone who enjoys investigating complex cyber threats, turning data into actionable intelligence, and sharing their findings with others. You'll have a strong technical foundation, excellent analytical skills, and a genuine passion for understanding adversary behaviour and the evolving threat landscape.

Key skills and experience include:

  • A background in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

  • Understanding of operating systems, networking concepts, system internals, and security fundamentals.

  • Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or C/C++.

  • Experience analysing structured and unstructured datasets to generate meaningful insights.

  • Familiarity with malware analysis, threat intelligence, digital forensics, or reverse engineering techniques.

  • Strong understanding of modern cyber threats, malware trends, and attacker methodologies.

Desirable experience:

  • Malware analysis and reverse engineering.

  • Applying data science techniques to cybersecurity challenges.

  • Threat intelligence, detection engineering, or security analytics.

  • Knowledge of query languages and security tooling.

  • Research publications, blog writing, conference presentations, or open-source contributions.

Benefits:

  • 23 days’ holiday + all public holidays, rising to 25 days after 2 years of service,

  • Additional day off for your birthday,

  • Private medical insurance which covers you, your cohabiting partner and children,

  • Life insurance of 4 times your base salary,

  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme,

  • Enhanced family leave,

  • Confidential Employee Assistance Program,

  • Cycle to work scheme.

As a growing business strengthening its governance and controls, this role plays a part in supporting high standards of integrity and accountability.
